Thanks buddy! This is why we are besties! You are always looking out for me. I don’t know about you, but our little bromance lightens my day. Love you, bro.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

To clarifiy, I meant Jones upgrades the corp that was there without Jackson. I didn't mean he was an upgrade to Jackson.

Mills is good enough to be the #2. But this team was only as good as the pass rush last year. I don't care who your starting CBs are if the opposing QB has 4-5 seconds to throw on a consistent basis. There are maybe one or two CBs in the league who can consistently cover a receiver for that long. If the Pats can have the pass rush they had for most of the year prior to the bye, they can certainly do well in the secondary with Mills and a decent #1 CB covering outside.
Exactly. The Pats need pressure, not better coverage. They also need to be better against the run.

Who in their sane mind would trade for Agahlor? He costs the Pats 10 million whether he plays for the Pats or not. No way is this dude worth what he is being paid. Bourne exceeded his contract worth. Tagging Jackson gives the Pats 1 season to draft his replacement and groom him for the job.

The Pats HAD one of the best secondary's in the NFL. Malcom Butler to Gilmore to JC Jackson, it was a good run.
We'll just have to wait and see what the future has in store for us. I stopped trying to predict Bill's moves a long time ago.

I'm not worried about Bill finding a corner. If theres a HC/GM in the league that can do it its Bill. Thats what he does best. I'm more concerned about Wide Receivers than the Secondary.
I'm concerned about LB.

I mean this could be the year that Belichick breaks the trend on this. But finding or developing #1 CBs seems to come easier to Belichick than any other position and better than any other team.
This is one of the tings that defines Bill as a HC. He has a real knack for defense.

A name to watch:

Charvarius Ward
  • 6’1 200 lbs
  • Chiefs play the most press man in the NFL
  • 51% comp. pct 4 TDs 2 INTs 73.6 rating
  • Has kept Diggs in check back to back years
He’s been the CB1 of an underrated pass defense to past two years. He’s been burned at times due to blitzing (3rd & 20 vs. Chase) but is a pretty good CB & someone that could be better on his next team IMO.

We at least need the coverages we had last year. That will be very difficult without Jackson and perhaps without McCourty.

Just remember 2014. The Patriots let Talib go (who had been a game changer in the secondary). What did they do? Brought in Browner and Revis and brought back Chung. Secondaries can be repaired.

2015 was even more telling. Revis and Browner gone. No real major moves at cb but that defense ended up being pretty good once they settled in. We will need to do more this offseason but im sure there is a plan.

The Patriots have been masters at finding Diamonds in the rough at CB in UDFA market I expect no different this year.

He's going to get paid a ton of money and if it's the Patriots, everybody on here is going to freak out. I saw one proposal on Twitter to sign him for somewhere around $4M per season, which is just stupid. He's going to get closer to three times that.

Difficult but not impossible, especially if they have more pressure up front.

Make your predictions where he goes and for how much?

I'll go with the LA Chargers for $19M per year.

What about Tariq woolen from this year's draft. Ran 4.26 40 times. 6'4 height. 42 vertical.

Should be available in 3rd round.

Raidahs... the allure of a former Patriot player will be too much for josh to pass up... and he had 2 more ints than the entire raider defense in '21, 1 less than the whole team in '20...

5 years, 80m, 25m signing bonus, 42 guaranteed... 5th year is a void year

Isn't that super low? I am sure we could have afforded that.

its 20 million a year for four years... void year to spread out the guarantees... not what i would call a "low" number

But when you say 42 million guaranteed, does that include the 25 million sign on bonus? If that's the case can't I technically get 3 years of Jackson at 42 million and cut him ?
