Nobody is arguing that.

But last year, Dillon was "1" and Maroney was "2."

In 2007, Maroney will be just fine as "1". "2" could be Faulk, or it could be somebody bigger.

the season will definitely not start as faulk "2"

they need to bring at least someone with the capability to start if maroney is injured

faulk should not be the primary backup and in my opinion someone should be brought in to be groomed for faulks role because he is on the wrong side of 30

giants GM said bills approached them about a trade for mcgahee since they need a RB with tiki gone. but mcgahee is more of a power back, not a great receiver and would be less of a replacement for tiki and more an overlap with the huge back jacobs.

isn't obvious mcgahee would be the perfect replacement for dillon? there styles are similar and mcgahee is probably a touch faster now. mcgahee and maroney would be a very good combination.

so what do the pats need to give up to get mcgahee?

Their sanity.

A two-back system is the way to go and no one is arguing that.

Maroney is going to be the #1 and there will be another back here to split carries with him, be it a rookie, a FA, or Evans. Faulk will continue in his current role as a change of pace, 3rd down back.

The only question is which back will the Patriots sign/draft to take some of the load off of Maroney's shoulders? It won't be McGahee.

I would like to take a moment and give myself props for saying the Bills were looking to dump McGahee about a week ago and I got the usual dismissal.

Having said that there is no way he is coming here.
