"He’s a great player," Brady said. "He’s in his third year, and he’s had a lot of success. Their offense is doing a great job this year. They score a lot of points, especially at home, and he’s kind of the ring leader."

But Brady didn't stop there as he presented a wish-list of attributes he'd like to have that Luck possesses.

"He does a lot of things I wish I could do," Brady said. "He’s big, fast, shrugs off blockers. He makes a lot of extended plays. He’s a great passer."

Jealous? Really, Boston Globe? Yeah... I'm sure Tom is jealous of Luck's three SB championships, and eight AFCCG's, and super-model wife, and... oh... wait a minute...

Tom did say that he was jealous of Luck's comb-able back hair.

Knowing how dedicated to the sport Tommy is, then he likely is jealous of Luck in some ways, not least as he has his whole career ahead of him.

Maybe. It's a natural emotion. Physical skills, youth might be some of Luck's attributes Brady wish he had.

I mean, clearly Brady is a great athlete but not physically gifted- at least not like guys like Luck, Cam Newton or Michael Vick in his prime,

I hate that characterization.
Brady is as gifted as anyone who has ever lived in the most important skills needed to play QB.
Other players being more gifted in skills less important to a QB or more valuable in other sports does not make them more gifted QBs.

IMHO the only thing for which he should be jealous of Luck is his youth.

No disagreement with Brady not having enough of the prerequisite physical & mental attributes at his disposal to play at a high level. You could make the case that if Brady had the physical gifts of Cam Newton, he may not maximize his "upside" on reading defenses, foot-agility drillsso he can slide around the pocket better, studying opponents tendencies, etc.

My point was that if you asked Brady if he wanted the physical skills of Cam Newton, he'd pause for moment and think of the possibilities....

Who wouldn't be a little envious of the fresh new face that gets to ride the whole ride again? As Tom himself said, he wishes he could do some of the things Luck can do. I'm sure the reverse is also true and that Luck wishes he could do some of the things Brady can do. He claims to not be a big Brady fan, but that may just be a little of that envy talking.

to be fair..choking is throwing away something you have a reasonable shot at. can't hold it against Luck that he's had to face the Pats and a team on ablsolute deer antler heater in his 2 playoffs...

IMHO the only thing for which he should be jealous of Luck is his youth.
And maybe his mobility. Luck is good at scrambling. Brady has been working on that lately, even this late in his career. I wouldn't even say Brady is "jealous" - wistful is a better word. Wishes he was young again and more mobile. But just think of it, in his third year, Brady already had a Superbowl ring, and was about to win two more...

As someone who's probably a little older than the average poster out here, I can say that there are indeed ways in which I'm "jealous" of people who are younger than I am because of the opportunities that their relative youth could allow them to have. But that doesn't mean that I think that they are better than me or that I would want to trade places with them only that there's a sense that, "yeah, it would be nice to roll back the clock and have a chance to do a lot of things I enjoyed doing all over again."

In that sense, sure. Given how much TB has talked about how much he loves the game, I could imagine that there are ways in which he'd like to be 25 again, but that doesn't mean he's "jealous" of Andrew Luck.

But my point is that Brady has more physical skills that Cam Newton, as it relates to being a QB.
Sure Newton would be a better track athlete.
But the skills that Brady possesses, including vision, touch, accuracy of throws, muscle memory, short area agility, hand-eye coordination, among others, are also physical skills.

Brady has more physical skills than Cam Newton, but for some reason people want to limit physical skills to the ones that don't mean as much toward being a QB.
