If everybody they have graded out at a good value at 24 is gone however one scenario I like is the Pats trading down with the Browns who have the 3rd pick of the second round. I think they may feel the pressure to trade up and grab Troy Smith and because of the BB/RC connection they could make perfect trading partners.
That actually runs counter to their past tendencies.
If TPTB have their hearts set on getting certain players in round 1, they're more likely to try and trade up to ensure they get at least one of those players than trade down and stockpile extra draft picks.
I think it will depend on if there's a great value at 24 or not. Because of all the juniors coming out it's become a much deeper draft.
I'd like this trade if it were our 1B pick. We'd pick 3rd in round 2 and acquire a day one pick in '08. Having extra picks in each draft allows us more flexibility in moving around the board. If everybody they have graded out at a good value at 24 is gone however one scenario I like is the Pats trading down with the Browns who have the 3rd pick of the second round.
