Is the GOAT playing like one?

I am not going to denigrate Brady, but he does seem somewhat off... unfortunately it is difficult to really assess if he is regressing or not, as we do not have the offensive options we used to have. No screens, traps, TE play and abandoning the running game early.

We can better judge when he gets his full compliment of offensive options and can use the whole playbook...

A major factor in our offensive game planning and execution is we have no TE play right now, and that is significant...

I hope this isn't where he starts to fall off. They all do.

Hopefully it was just a bad game.

Purely a subjective observation but it appears to me that he's missing more open receivers (as in not recognizing they are open and throwing them the ball, not missing on throws to open receivers) than he did in the past. Part of that has to do with the entirely new cast on offense, I'm sure.

It isn't all on the rookies though. He has to have some of the blame.

Brady deserves some of the blame, but if most QBs was dealing with what Brady is dealing with this season would look 100x worse.

The problem is that he is playing like a goat - not the GOAT.

It would help a lot if Vereen, Ridley, Gronk, etc, were out there but even when he has plays to be made he's hit and miss. Hopefully things will get easier when the others get back but I also can't help but wonder about his late QB guru being gone. A call to him would probably help around now.

I'd think that even the 2007 team would have struggled in a monsoon, if you had taken away their top two running backs by injury, their top receiving threat, their top D-lineman, gotten crappy O-line play, and lost a fumble.

He can only carry so much weight.

Yayyy let's have a blaming party!

I can see that but I think a part of the problem is that Brady thinks certain things should be happening after the ball is snapped and the WRs/TEs/RBs aren't always on the same page. Look at that deep pass to Dobson, who ran a deep post instead of where Brady threw it. I have optimism that with time, everyone will get there.

Note the seasons

That's the first thing that came to mind when I saw that last night.

I expect to see a thread like this after every loss or poor game. "Is Tom done?"

"Is Brady declining?", etc.

Funny how you can fall off the cliff from one week to the next. They guy had one poor game and now folks are acting like he's Mark Sanchez.

You're right but he's also had easy throws and wide open receivers he's simply missed. Hopefully he's just putting too much pressure on himself and needs to relax and let the game come to him. It's not close to all his fault; but he's not playing well either.

Does his play so far warrant no blame? If not, then this thread is a sham.

It isn't only Brady. The whole team should have a little bit of the blame. But, people think that TFB's s hit doesn't stink.

He is human.

The Patriots offense is below average or bottom third in pretty much every offensive measuring stat that matters, except scoring by field goal kicking, where it's number 1, which is the one stat you don't really want any part of.

The offense is bad. There really is no other way to put it. He's the captain of the ship, and the ship is listing moderately to severely. What else is there to say? It is what it is. They need better play out of, pretty much literally, every player on the offensive side of the ball, including the quarter back position.

Fortunately, we have a team with a bad offense that is 4-1, so it could be a whole heck of a lot worse. Just have to hope it straightens out in the next several weeks without costing too many wins to keep the keep in contention.

At this stage of his career, it is totally unfair what BB is doing to him by making him start over with a bunch of rookies and no good players at skill position.

That said, Brady didn't have a good game due to excellent D line play by Cincy. Guess GOATs also have off days. Not to mention the drops by his receivers, granted some bad throws too, and that freak show rain that poured down for exactly 2 mins of our O trying to tie the game

Me think Brady is in a way contributed to this issue by toting the company line every single time. If he threw a tantrum @ BB and Kraft about losing key players every 2-3 years, this may not have happened.

so its my signature... :bricks:

Mark Sanchez? I wish, Brady SUCKS!!!!!!!

I wonder if the Jags would take 2 firsts for Gabbert?

Another god awful thread. The guy is deal with a cast of rookies that are blowing option routes (either by screwing them up or by rounding them off and being out of position) and a center and RG that haven't been able to pass protect to save their own lives. The Patriots lead the league in drops to this point. Without those drops, the offense and (subsequently) the quarterback look a lot better.

The rookies will get most of the blame because Brady never makes any mistakes. Ever! His poop needs to be bronzed! No wait, it comes out bronzed!

How come no-one was saying this after the Buffalo, TB or Atlanta games?
