Is the 2025 defensive coaching Sub-Par ( Williams / Kuhr)

Williams needs to eat a god damn salad and drink a coconut water before every game. Absolutely ludicrous situation that he can’t take health seriously. I’d say he’s 51 going on 81, but that’s an insult to folks living well in their 80s who tend to keep their **** straight, unlike him. Tried to sugar coat this post as much as possible..
Reportedly he has a heart condition and is diabetic

I know right....he should have them better prepared to perform a pee wee league technique.......tackle.
I still look at this as Gonzo is the key here.. he's a huge part of the defense and there's no one in the secondary on his level.. Austin is serviceable but has to start going from a reserve, Davis is solid but is pressed into a CB1 role.. he's best suited on a team's second option. They play man some formations and zone in others.. the safeties in Woodson who's a rookie but getting better each game. The secondary is the problem not the LBs.. we get plenty of pressure from the front 7.. they are in QBs chest each snap.. guys on the back end have to hold up..

It’s been 2 games. They turned over more than 50% of the roster and most of their starting defense has never played together. People think it’s like instant hot chocolate, just pour in hot water and poof, you’re all set. While many here can’t seem to grasp that concept; I can’t grasp the fact that they can’t grasp that concept.
Valid point. But so much dependency of the entire unit on one player doesn't Bode well .

The offense turned over the entire line leave apart onwenu and is doing decent with 2 rookies. The thought just came wherein Williams health scare has thrown a spanner in the works and impacted coaching and defensive game plan . Spillane is paid 11 million a year and plays worse than a rookie 5th rounder .

Maybe they pull their socks and get better as the year progresses but for now, I am not sure if we can leave the coaching off the hook and blame it just on new team and gonzo absence .

I feel all 3 factors are contributing.

The defensive line play seems like it's doing really well and I don't think anyone should be surprised by the weakness in the linebacker play. It's the defensive backs that I find troubling. That used to be the strength of the coaching staffs and now I'm not so sure.

If it's still a "problem" when Gonzalez gets back then perhaps there's an aroma to everyone's Cabernet.

It's two fekkin' games without their best player.

All hate and no play makes Thelonious a dull boy
If you find me dull, please ignore me. One of my failings is that I do not suffer fools gladly. Again, get help.

not Kuhr's problem at all.
He had the guys in good plays and positions for most of the game.
There were some bad reads by players on the field, some very bad missed tackles, and some plain screwups in coverage that allowed for their big plays.
Hill's 50 yard catch - Austin misread it, and a HoFer made a great adjustment and catch (Woodson late to help)
Waddle's TD catch - Austin just got outrun because bad technique (Woodson late to help)
All Achane's catches - Spillane was mostly the culprit of being too slow, or slightly out of position.

I think it is sub-par to this point. We have no idea, of course, what a healthy Williams could do. The scheme (such as it is) is new, and the roster is largely new as well. There was bound to be uncertainty under the best of circumstances. Gonzo's injury is an obvious problem. We need clarity on Williams' status. If he can't do the job, he'll have to be replaced, but it is only right to afford him at least a little more time to discover whether he is healthy enough to do the job or not. We had this sort of problem in an academic department I chaired. Unless you don't care about the afflicted colleague, there is no tidy or expeditious solution, and temporary replacements rarely work out because they can't be fully vetted in such an emergency. What a mess.

Let me ask again was Carlton Davis III on Malik Washington?? Because Hill and Waddle was still making catches: IF yes why wasn't he on either Hill or Waddle?? He's getting Big bucks??

They played a LOT of zone. Way more than usual. There was very little man coverage the entire game.

So C Davis having that great game could somewhat be tainted. I would like to see my High priced FA CB on a legit WR consistently.

So you're leaving either Hill or Waddle one-on-one with Alex Austin?
