Is Taping Signals OK?

It's actually quite fun to show all these other fans just how ignorant they are:

They are "debating" whether taping signals is legal or not, apparently not realizing that it always has been and still is today.

As the Dolphins illustrated when they were "caught" in 2006, post game analysis of signals can indeed pay off. And if there's an advantage and it's legal, its safe to say every team does it.

After all, using a Quarterback is legal and gives an advantage in the game as well, and we don't see too many teams playing without a QB (or at least guys who call themselves QBs)

No, they don't realize that what they've been so uptight about since last September is the location of the videotaping - not the videotaping itself.

That's slightly less scandalous than the original outrage that signals were being stolen (also legal) only to be replaced by the notion that stolen signals were being videotaped (legal as well) and really takes the wind out of their sails.

It seems like common sense right? But then again the posters at the link I gave are Jets fans.

Much like real estate --- Location, Location, Location

"It is not uncommon for visiting team video crews to request permission to shoot coaching video from both upper end zone positions," spokesman Greg Aiello wrote in an email. "Home clubs must provide visiting clubs with equal vantage points for the taping of games. Teams typically shoot coaching video from one upper 50-yard line location and one upper end zone location, but there are no restrictions on shooting from both upper end zone positions as long as the opportunity is provided to both teams. No permission is needed from the league office."

Aren't these locations accessible to club staff? Way to be consistent NFL!!

The Anderson 'memo' was a 'reminder' of a rule, not a rule in itself (yet made an alarming attempt to legislate with it's own skewed interpretation) ... the NFL is just as guilty of cherry picking and seeing what they want in a rule as Belichick is, end of story.
