Patriots Rumor Is Mike’s job security in any danger now? (Vrabel Allegedly Caught Kissing Russini in New Photos 6-Years Ago)

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
He has. But it seems like the consensus among fans is that nothing he says is good enough unless he goes out and gives everyone every small detail.

Pointing out how badly Mike has conducted himself is not the same as saying the public needs to hear "every small detail".

Again, read what Bedard wrote:

It was obvious from Vrabel's (fiirst) statement that he didn't consult with any public relations professionals. That, or he ignored them completely, thinking he's the smartest guy in the room — a charge that goes back to his playing days — and that he was beyond reproach.

What Vrabel should have done, at the very least, was issue a non-denial denial to buy a few days to meet with crisis PR managers to craft a real response that would allow everyone to move on as quickly as possible. Admit enough to be vulnerable and humbled. Ask for forgiveness and privacy while you work on becoming the husband, father, and coach everyone expects you to be. Basically, much of what Vrabel did on Tuesday, just 10 days earlier.

Instead, he doubled down and taunted the NY Post, which was basically asking for more dirt digging. It was evident that something was going on. Not only was he untruthful about that, but he was also defiant. If you're caught, admit it, ask forgiveness, and move on. It normally works.

Compare and contrast to how Mike actually played things:

“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable,” Vrabel said in a statement to Page Six at the time.

Mike ain't the first person on Earth to get caught with his willy out.

He should have thought things through a lot better than he did.

It seems he just thought he was bulletproof, but then he took a few rounds to the head.

I feel like the man has two strikes against him, the affair and the botched handling of the affair.

One more strike and he's out!

I still think there’s reason to believe this is a media hit on Vrabel and Russini was just collateral damage. The 2020 photos cinched it for me. Some rando photographer just happened to be at the same resort? Yeah I don’t think so.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a lawsuit for this and what discovery might uncover. Hand over your cell phone Strunk.

It is a good question.

If she wants to get a legitimate career going again she will have to try for the redemption arc.

If she decides to go rogue, there's all different kinds of ways she can play it.

Bottom line is there probably will be another shoe to drop at some point in the future.

And Lord knows if he's had any other side pieces that can kick it off all over again.

Thing is, SHE might've had additional side pieces along the way as well. Apparently she had a "reputation." She probably will end up on someone's podcast or Barstool, etc. or some independent gig a la Kay Adams.

I am curious how the two marriages ultimately fare. I'm guessing Vrabel's survives and Russini's doesn't.

Funny you mention that. Again, not a gossip monger, but one podcast I listen two has two former NFL.COM employees and a current SI.COM writer and they surfaced something interesting:

I keep mentioning she may 'go rogue'. If she can't get a long-term traditional gig, maybe she cashes in by writing a tell-all book, then hops around from platform to platform giving her take on non-traditional stories, or indeed ends up with a 'new media' platform like Barstool.

If she does that then she is embracing the trollip role, but IMO that doesn't really lessen the impact on Vrabel if/when she tells all, presuming he's still a prominent NFL figure at that point in time.

Kinda reminiscent of some of the tell-alls that various rock and roll 'groupies' have written in the past about who they banged, where they banged, who caught them, etc.

The media loves catching people in lies. Those initial statements made by Vrabel and Russini were horrible. They were condescending to everyone telling not to believe our lyin’ eyes. Those lame initial statements probably added 2-3 weeks to the life of this story.

However, now it is winding down. As always happens, something takes its place. We have the Bruins to ***** about, the draft to discuss, and my understanding is that the Red Sox are even more of a cluster**** than usual.

I started watching that video clip @Mack Herron posted and she was so gleeful in her criticism that it turned me off and I turned it off. At this point it’s just pouring gasoline on embers trying to reignite the conflagration and keep it alive when it is trying to die.

You’re right there are other better stories to follow.

Don’t sleep on the Celtics. That was an impressive rain of threes than they dropped on the Sixers last night. Pritchard was deadly!

Vrabel is our coach until Kraft says otherwise.

Cheating is never a good thing but it happened years ago and hopefully he can put this thing behind him.

True, but as we saw with Mayo, if Bob thinks things are going in the wrong direction, he makes moves.

I would say Vrabel is somewhat vulnerable, and it's almost entirely due to the current scandal. The team needs to come out strong in the fall. He needs to be in command of the team. If the opposite happens, the team is not good and he doesn't seem to be an effective leader, it's a big problem for him. We know the Felgers of this world will call for his head on a platter, and there's enough dopes out there who lack critical thinking and just run with whatever Felger says. If, on top of such a situation, another "distraction" appears out of nowhere, we might be saying hello to interim HC Josh Daniels quicker than any of us feels is likely right now.

I hope it's nothing like this. I hope he and his family find healing soon, one way or the other. I hope he's in a good mental state and ready to lead the team to a great season in the fall. I hope there's no more skeletons in the closet, no more shoes to drop. I hope the players and coaches look past the terrible way he's handled this situation. I hope everyone gets back to their Xs and Os instead of Vrabel and his hoes.

Huh? The troublesome pictures were taken one month ago (March 28)...

Not a chance in hell.

It would take assault or rape allegations.

They cheated on their spouses, that's not a fireable offense for him... not even close.

There is a way on Earth.

Team comes out weak, he appears to have lost command of the team, and more shoes (or panties?) drop, then "he gone!".

Odds of that are small, but then again I thought the odds of him being guilty of cheating after he told the world the idea was laughable were small.

As Nixon found out, it's not the crime that'll get you, it's the cover-up.

Proof of tampering might also do it but there's no evidence of that.

I also gave him the benefit of the doubt until she stepped down from her job instead of welcoming an investigation. There's not much to deny after that.

I think if it comes out that he cheated on his wife with more women then it’s going to get very hot in that locker-room. Vrabel is a heck of a coach but if more women start popping up then it might be over for him.

Nah... these coaches cost money. And every time you fire one, you owe them money.

Unless there is wholesale injuries, there's no way this team comes out playing bad. And even the owner's can recognize the difference between an injury riddled team and a poor one.

He's only vulnerable if they start losing in a bad way. (A Mayo way).
And imagine that things start out bad, and the Pats gave a 1st or 2nd round pick for Brown., particularly in 2027.

Might Vrabel be more inclined now to make the trade to get the heat off himself?

The Eagles fans would be watching our team more than Pats fans will.

Even a high 2nd in a generational draft would be an overpay.

I am not looking forward to trading for AJ Brown, I am fearing it.

Far more downside potential than upside.

WE DONT NEED BROWN!!!
