Is Matt Patricia in charge of the Defence again? Or DB's?

This was a weird one. It was actually the offense. Explanation:
- Pats D held the Cowboys to only 10 points by halftime. Had the pick and a goal line stand.
- But the Pats offense only ran 50 plays to the Cowboys 82 plays. Cowboys had 40 minutes of possession.
- Pats offense went 3 and out, a half dozen times after the 1st quarter. Completely gassed the Patriot defense.

Having said this I am not sure if Mills or Bentley are good enough for a playoff caliber defense.

I thought he is in more of an advisor/front office role but I am not really sure.

I am pretty sure it is Steve.

Maybe Phatt Matt was one of Little Stevie's babysitters while he was just a slappy on Bill's staff...? Or maybe bought beer for him while telling him his mullett looked terrific...

This is a good breakdown. Offense and defense are supposed to compliment each other. If your offense stops moving the ball or trns the ball over, your defense suffers. The pats flat out stopped moving the ball, kept going 3 and out, which means the D gets thrown right back out there. In reality the pats gave up 22 points in an OT game to a top 3 offense. If you can do that, you did your job on defense. The offense needs to score better.

The crazy thing is dallas only had 20 pts when they missed the long fg with 2:47 left. If our offense gets 2 measly first downs we win 21-20 and the defense looks like heroes. They had already been asked to do too much at that point but even a couple first downs was too much to ask for from the offense.

Special teams has also offered very little this year. This defense is flawed indeed but with offense and special teams helping out a little they play well enough to win.

Yes. Exactly. It was the offensive play calling. It's counter intuitive but true. The offense totally did not come through. It reminds me a lot of 2006 games where the offense left the defense totally exhausted due to very crappy play calling (exact same oc)

.

Yeah, I really can't blame the defense for the losses this season. There are games in which they could've played better and won the team the game, but they're not the exclusive reason for their struggles. By 2021 standards, I think they're playing pretty darn well.

The offense was legitimately bad from weeks 1-3, but has stepped things up since then (the OL settling down is a big part of that).

The reason this team has a losing record is turnovers. Period, end of discussion.

The only thing that matters more than turnovers is the score. I said this in another thread: You can point out good teams that turn the ball over, but you can't point out many winning teams that turn the ball over.

I looked at the Pats' turnover differential and it's currently -3 for the season, but I don't believe that includes blocked punts (it obviously should). So in actuality, I believe they are -5 for the season.

what is Patricia’s resume as a football coach unrelated to his lord Belichick? Patricia has been riding on belichicks coat tails for a decade

Fatty-O Patricia made an ass clown of himself in Detroit. Ask Golliday and stafford

Well they gave up literally the most yards of any Belichick coached team ever and the game was only close points wise because Dak threw an end zone pick and then later on fumbled on the 1 inch line so that’s 10-14 points that the defense got bailed out for there but sure, the defense was actually good don’t believe your lying eyes.

500 passing yards allowed per game ain't going to get you anywhere. Neither is 350 vs rookies.
Are you asking a question or making a statement?

Just as an FYI, when the Patriots lost to the Rams by one score back in 2001, we gave up the exact same yards during regulation that we gave up last night. 487 yards.

The Rams scored 24 that night.

This is how Belichick likes to play games.

Of course, we also gave the Cowboys points on a pick 6 and they overturned a Meyers TD that lead to a Mac fumble which resulted in a fumble return, not to mention a blocked punt--so the point total... this wasn't all on the defense.

No clue what Patricia does, but I hate that he is back in the organization.
