I believe he has 2 very cheap years left on his contract. If this team were to go back to Brady under center more often. Olsen could blow up in this offense! He was basically the only weapon CHI had and he still put up great numbers drawing lots of attention.
I would do this in a heart beat. I like Olsen alot, we know all of the measureable's so no need to post those again. To me a player with this amount of upside and if it's true they want a two is a good deal for us. They need picks, and we need a te. I like Olsen in our offense as a pass catcher, a blocking te can be found out there, Baker could always be brought back.
Bingo. Why would BB bring back Baker? Peek or Dray are excellent college blockers and can be secured on day three of the draft.
I think it really depends on how the offense is going to look next season without Welker. If we keep the same style and just insert Edelman in Welker's role, we don't really need a pass-catching TE that cost us a 2nd round pick. We had one of those last season and didn't make much use of him.
If we're going to modify things and get the TE more involved, run the ball more and do more play-action passing, I'm still not sure if Olsen is a good enough blocker to justify it. If he is, maybe then...but those 2nd round picks are really valuable in this deep draft. Just because we have 3 of them doesn't mean we should waste them like they're burning a hole in our pocket.
Bingo.
re: Pitta - I saw some blocking on TV in their bowl game and the Senior Bowl, the tools are clearly there. His battery mate George would be a nice UDFA prospect too, he got more blocking assignments, but he was at least as good as preseason Baker in the receiving department.
With Moss at the Z and Edelman in the slot, we do not have anybody for the X receiver position. Any TE with NFL experience and speed that can stretch the field, even if they can't block as well as Graham, is a valuable commodity in our offense.
So who are you campaining for here??

Any NFL TE with speed to stretch the defense.
Watson is a free agent who is testing the free agent market. I would welcome his re-signing.
