Is a Parsons trade realistic?

Just a reminder: the second tag is no less than 120% of their prior year salary. The third is at least 144% of the prior year salary or the average of the top 5 QB salaries.

so this years salary is 24m (2025)... next year projected tag is 28m (tag 1 - 2026)... total of 52 million for 2 years... not going to worry about tag 2 (around 36m +/-)...

from what i read, the contract estimated for him is 4/172... 43m a season aav...

52 million vs 86 million? yeah, if i were jerry i'd play that game all day long...

Is Parsons worth it? yeah he is... and he should go after every cent he can get... eventually Jerry will cave and pay him... but he has shown his willingness to wait on making these deals... backfired on him with Dak, but right now, he's some 30 million up on Parsons

Which would currently mean salaries of $24M, $25M, $30M and @ $53M for Dallas to keep him through 2028, essentially at tag gunpoint. That's $132M vs @$159M for the same time period for a new contract with a commonly reported expected AAV of $42-47M.

We all know Jerruh makes great thundering noise but usually caves. From a pure bu$ine$$ perspective this is one time he should not. In this case not only is the tag cheaper than the expected AAV, the injury risk is all on Parsons. Parsons is the anti Kirk Cousins in that he is the defensive player that should be sitting the market. Cousins was the beneficiary of where the market had been set by better QB's, he made more as a result of the multiple tag process than he ever would have based on his play. Parsons would make considerably less

That's why unless egos get in the way, entirely possible considering who we're talking about, I don't see him getting traded

TACO Jerry

Does Parsons turn us into a SB contender? If you think the answer is yes, then do it. If not, it's probably not worth it. anyway, we've got sack monster Anfernee Jennings, we don't need Parsons.

One of the very few players I’d trade 2 1sts for. 2027 would be a tough one to give up as it’s supposed to be a loaded draft class though.

Now if they would accept, Keion White, Cole Strange, Kyle Dugger, Kendrick Bourne and Anfernee Jennings and a 1, I would do it.

It's a bit more than that . . . $24M this year, which becomes $28.8M next year and then $34.6M in 2027, then [I'm guessing] at least $55M in 2028. So $142M, if not more.

[If they tag him a third time, they have to pay him at least the average of the top 5 QBs, which is already $46M this year.]

I think he gets us closer and a lot quicker then the 2026 & 2027 first round picks will.

Have to include what you’ll pay those picks vs what you’ll pay Parsons.

I think pass rush will be serviceable already.

I do not think O-line, FS and linebacker are.

Need young talented blood at those spots.

Honestly maybe TE also.

If there's an Olinemen as good Micah on the market I'll give up 2 firsts and a second.

Hawkins and Woodson have beat out Dugger so I'm pretty good with our safety group.

We could use another LBer but if we have Micah I think we can get by with the ones we have. I like Spillane and Ellis I'm not expecting pro bowls but they are pretty good.

It depends on your definition of realistic.

If you mean "significant chance of happening," probably not IMO. Jerruh usually folds and overpays.

If you mean "there is a plausible trade they'd be willing to make," probably.
Per overthecap.com, Cowboys are $6 million over the cap for next year before any Parsons new contract so they have to do a great deal of creative accounting.

My man Manx, not for the first time it occurs to me

There isn’t an OL on the market as valuable as Parsons, and almost all of the top tackle prospects in next years draft are right tackles.

Micah it is then!

Yep. I'm sure they can figure it out but between CeCee, Dak, and Parsons you'll have close to 2/5 of the cap to 3 players.

Depends on the picks.
I think that's a move that sets your team back years at this point. I go back to the Khalil Mack trade. I think the Pats are too far away to deal that many assets when they are still picking (likely) in the middle of the round. I think if they were, say the Redskins Commanders, now you'd 100% make that deal. Now, here? No. Sign him? Youbetchya.
