Your liberalism has gotten the best of you Mikey...it's called Free Agency for a reason, and it's actually good for the league because it is great for the TV ratings which is where the $$$ comes from.

We see this trend everywhere. The days of being a good company man are gone forever. It extends from business in general. Everybody's a free agent, independent contractor, sub-contractor, whatever you want to call it. Everyone who works for me is free to go and knows they can get "released" at any point based on business conditions. It's understood be everyone except those who haven't let go of the past. Givens is doing the same thing all of us would do. Sports is the same way. He owes the Pats nothing and vice-versa.

Ummmm....and what do the Patriots owe a player like McGinest who said he waited from the Pats to call him and offer a contract, that he really wanted to keep playing for the Pats and retire as a Pat, but didn't even receive a phone call, not even a vet min, one-year contract offer? Nothing? What do they owe him?

I think you guys are way off base

Its a business, club and player. As long as they don't get acrimonious I don't have any problem with it. I don't like to hear insinuations from Willie and Troy about lack of respect. They have always been respected by BB and the club.

Mr. Givens is dammed lucky to have played for the Patriots and have Tom Brady threw him the ball.

Where would Mr. Givens be if he were drafted by Detroit? or Oakland? or New Orleans?

Would David even be in the league today if Joey Harrington were the one throwing the ball?

Did Mr. Givens already forget the off-season Brady spent trying to help him improve and become the player he is today?

If David were drafted by any team other than the Patriots , would he see the light of day, let alone the $24M he is getting from Tennessee?

Givens should have recognized this reality:

David Givens is a creation of Belichick and Brady. Just as David Patten was a creation of Belichick and Brady.

Without Belichick and Brady, there is no David Givens. It is that simple.

And for all things done for him, Givens turned his back on the only team that would give him the opportunities to play in the league.

.

Hilarious mikey!

The best part is, no one else understand's your dry wit! They actually think you're serious!

Yesss! They should all be down on their knees kissing Bob Kraft's feet!!! Maybe they should send him a portion of their signing bonus.

After all, they really didn't earn it themselves did they?

6th and 7th round picks are the "white trash" of the NFL. We should just cut the pretense and make them official indentured servants to a team for their entire careers, regardless of how hard they work to better themselves.

How dare they even consider leaving when someone offerst them huge inflated salaries!!???

Heck - why are they even allowed to be free agents at all?

You''re really on top of this one!

Ingrates!!!

David Givens - 7th round!

Adam Vinatieri - Undrafted!

Where is their sense of gratitude??

Who would have heard of a David Givens or an Adam Vinatieri if not for the Patriots??

Who took the risk and gave them the opportunities?

And this is how they repay us??

They should have done what Brady and Bruschi did: take a paycut and stay with the team.

.

Brady never took a pay cut to stay with team. He just reworked his contract to move money around. He is getting every penny of his contract and that's a fact. If you don't believe me, e-mail the Patriots directly and ask them. He NEVER took less money to stay in New England. Never.
