And many of our home games were played on a junk field.

Again, you play the schedule and the conditions, but there were some reasons for the D maybe looking a little better than in the past.

The secondary, even with but especially without Rodney, scares me. The LBs are solid, but not what they've been (how many big Vrabel or Tedy plays?). The D-line is the strength. I'd like to see more 4-3.

We must, however, keep in mind the fact that we had Seau in the middle of the field for the majority of the season. He's a leader and he was a major reason we STUFFED the run up until the Bears game. Also, Rodney played a huge part on the D when he was on the field. Keep min mind we will have neither for the playoffs.

It's actually quite amazing. We come into the playoffs with both of our starting safeties on the IR (until Rodney proves he will be back) as well as our starting ILB out. Still, we come into the playoffs with one of the best D's.

MLB = 4-3. 3-4 = ILBs.
