In Game Adjustments, or the Lack Thereof

What are you talking about "bogus"? Was that their record or not? Yes, BB had more experience than Mayo coming in.

What was said was "Anyone else, who had a long resume, would not be given this break,". BB had a long resume and was given a break after a bad first season.
Yes, it was their record, and you said BB's first season was "terrible". THAT'S what we're talking about.

BB did not have a bad first season. Again, you are declaring that that's so without defending your assertion. All you can say is "5-11." That DOESN'T speak for itself, *especially* in the first year. BB was not given a break. There were great reasons for staying the course with BB, as I have already given.

What are the reasons for sticking with Mayo? Hoping he learns how to be a HC sometime this offseason or next year? Maybe he'll learn how to manage the clock and make good strategic and tactical decisions? Maybe he'll learn how to avoid running his mouth with the media? No. The only reason for hope is Drake Maye, and Mayo the CEO deserves no credit for that. What has Mayo done to deserve a break?

Don't bother answering. I'm not interested in your replies, I'm just burying you rhetorically.

What? He was 5-11 and was 0-2 the following year. Going into the Mo Lewis game he allegedly told Herman Edwards the team stunk, he wasn't sold on Bledsoe, and that he was going to be fired before the end of the year. This revisionist history that Bill showed up with all the answers is ridiculous. Bill inherited a roster that lacked depth but had some very good core guys and Bill did a great job of supplementing the holes and then basically lucked into Brady. Saying he lucked into Brady isn't meant to demean what Bill did it is just the truth. A 6th rounder saving your job and leading a dynasty is about as lucky as it gets but Bill nailed some drafts, signed some key free agents, and made some shrewd trades along the way. With all that being said, Bill didn't have a good first season.

13 of 16 games decided by a score or less. That is not a mark of a "terrible" first season. Allegedly is allegedly, but even if he said it, was anyone sold on Bledsoe? I didn't say "he showed up with all the answers." I summarized what he did, so dispute what I said, not the strawman you just erected. Sure, for a dynasty you need Brady, and any coach would feel lucky to get a player like that, but there's no dynasty without BB either. I did not say BB had a "good" first season, I said he didn't have a bad first season, and it certainly wasn't "terrible" as archstanton834 claims, trying to make some equivalency with Mayo. Mayo is utter garbage and should be fired at the end of the year. There is no hope for a return to legitimacy with Mayo at the helm.

He had a pretty bad first season. He was brought in to get the defense back on track, but they were pretty mediocre.

He stripped down the offense as well which Drew was clearly uncomfortable with. He was also under center a ton because Damien Woody couldn’t snap the ball out of shotgun. They were bad all year.

You constantly lose close games it is because you're a bad team. This is the NFL. The difference between good teams and bad teams is minimal. That is why almost every week there is a surprising upset. You are what your record says you are.

You can bury your head in the sand all you want if you think it helps your argument but I don't know why Mike Westhoff, a well respected, and long time NFL assistant coach, would randomly claim Bill said these things 20 years after the fact. There is strong possibility that Bill would have been fired at the end of 2001 if Brady didn't step in for Bledsoe. You can split hairs all you want over "not bad" vs "good" or "terrible" but any way you splice it Bill didn't have a good 2000 season.

You seem to be overly emotional when it comes to Mayo but right now both him and Bill are stating off with a rough first season in New England. I am not loving the Mayo experience by any means but firing coaches after a season is what bad organizations do. You speak your opinions as facts and say there is "no hope" but there is because Maye looks like he might be the real deal. Maybe it is luck for Mayo that he ends up with a QB but either way to label our chances of success as hopeless is drastically over the top if May ends up being a franchise quarterback.
