...what odds would you give the Pats to win the AFC/Superbowl this year?

British ones have us as 7/1 joint favourites (with Denver) for the Superbowl and 3/1 for the AFC.

But given recent events I'd make them much longer. 11/2 - AFC and 13/1 Superbowl for me

15/1 afc champs, 31/1 super bowl champs.

For what it is worth, current odds at Bovada; Pats appear to have dropped just a very small bit, from 8:1 to 8.5:1. Not much love for the defending SB champs, or a few other playoff teams (Bengals, Vikings, Colts):

Odds to win the 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII
  • 6/1 -- San Francisco 49ers
  • 13/2 - Denver Broncos
  • 8/1 -- Seattle Seahawks
  • 17/2 - New England Patriots
  • 12/1 - Green Bay Packers
  • 14/1 - Atlanta Falcons
  • 18/1 - Houston Texans
  • 22/1 - Baltimore Ravens
  • 22/1 - New York Giants
  • 25/1 - Pittsburgh Steelers
  • 33/1 - Chicago Bears
  • 33/1 - Cincinnati Bengals
  • 33/1 - Dallas Cowboys
  • 33/1 - Philadelphia Eagles
  • 33/1 - Washington Redskins
  • 40/1 - Detroit Lions
  • 40/1 - Indianapolis Colts
  • 40/1 - Miami Dolphins
  • 40/1 - Minnesota Vikings
  • 40/1 - St. Louis Rams
  • 50/1 - Kansas City Chiefs
  • 50/1 - San Diego Chargers
  • 50/1 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • 66/1 - Carolina Panthers
  • 75/1 - Cleveland Browns
  • 100/1 - New Jersey Jets
  • 100/1 - Tennessee Titans
  • 125/1 - Arizona Cardinals
  • 125/1 - Buffalo Bills
  • 150/1 - Oakland Raiders
  • 200/1 - Jacksonville Jaguars

Odds to win 2014 AFC Championship
  • 5/2 -- Denver Broncos
  • 7/2 -- New England Patriots
  • 11/2 - Houston Texans
  • 10/1 - Baltimore Ravens
  • 12/1 - Pittsburgh Steelers
  • 15/1 - Cincinnati Bengals
  • 16/1 - Indianapolis Colts
  • 18/1 - Miami Dolphins
  • 20/1 - San Diego Chargers
  • 25/1 - Kansas City Chiefs
  • 40/1 - Cleveland Browns
  • 40/1 - New Jersey Jets
  • 50/1 - Buffalo Bills
  • 50/1 - Tennessee Titans
  • 66/1 - Oakland Raiders
  • 75/1 - Jacksonville Jaguars

Odds to win 2014 NFC Championship
  • 15/4 - San Francisco 49ers
  • 9/2 -- Seattle Seahawks
  • 13/2 - Green Bay Packers
  • 15/2 - Atlanta Falcons
  • 10/1 - New Orleans Saints
  • 12/1 - New York Giants
  • 16/1 - Chicago Bears
  • 16/1 - Dallas Cowboys
  • 18/1 - Philadelphia Eagles
  • 20/1 - Minnesota Vikings
  • 25/1 - St. Louis Rams
  • 28/1 - Detroit Lions
  • 28/1 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • 33/1 - Carolina Panthers
  • 66/1 - Arizona Cardinals

Odds to win the AFC East Division
  • -400 --- New England Patriots
  • +400 -- Miami Dolphins
  • +1200 - New York Jets
  • +1400 - Buffalo Bills

And if I had the $$ to (potentially) lose, I would take the 12/1 on Green Bay, and the +400 on Miami.

15/1 afc champs, 31/1 super bowl champs.
Really? So you see the Patriots being just as likely to win the AFC as the Browns and Jaguars? Just as likely to win the Super Bowl as Philly and Detroit?

It is what it is...

The good news: no one is better at rallying a football team in adversity and getting them to focus on their jobs than Bill Belichick.

The bad news: everything else.

Looking at this other listing the odds for the Pats may have slipped more than I realized; they were 5/1 at LVH a month ago.

The patriots have NOT been a "football team in adversity" since Belichick arrived.

It is strange to use the label of adversity to a team that is 4th most likely to win the SB and 2nd most likely to win the AFC (at least according to those putting up cash). The jets and the jags are teams in adversity, not the patriots.

The good news: no one is better at rallying a football team in adversity and getting them to focus on their jobs than Bill Belichick.

Are you sure you know what the word adversity means?
