Yep.. its an awesome read.. thanks for the link..

Theres a league wide problem with drafting and developing offensive linemen.

Honestly there are many cases every year when you're drafting a guy that hasn't been in a 3 pt stance more than 35 times since high school. Rarely do you see a guy in a 3 pt stance fire off the ball, flip his hips, exploded and go maul a small village of linebackers.

It's something that has to be taught more often than not, along with other basics.

Its a difficult position to evaluate, at least imho.

And its no secret the best o-lines in football are all competing for, or are already in the playoffs.

This is an excellent write up on a very little known position. We can rarely even get a close look at in in TC. Here we get a little insight as to why the f*ck it is so difficult to assign blame on occasion without know the exact assignments. You never know. Did the RB miss his chip or just get too big a piece. Was the OT expecting help and didn't get it. The the G expect outside help. Why didn't the C go after that guy, was it a busted assignment or just not his job. Too often analysts and fan make assign instant blame seconds after a play without any fore knowledge. Sometimes they may be right, but it's still just a guess, or just play wrong.

BTW- Geoff and Mitchell Schwartz are the first 2 Jewish brothers who have played in the NFL since 1924. Yes I keep track of those things because I'm one of those oximorons myself. A Jewish LB And for any of those who are interested Geoff the elder brother was a JAG for several teams and is currently a FA, while Mitchell is one of the top RT's in the league with KC.

Maybe if KC plays us in the playoffs, Julian, Ebner, and Mitchell can meet with Kraft and @Patjew for a little oneg shabat before the game.

Very nice read. Thx

This slight look behind the curtain gives even more credence to all of the PFF critics. There are so many ways OL calls can be made that I find their OL ratings extremely misleading and essentially pointless.

Good find, thanks.

The content of this is informative. As an aside, I can't believe that a legit website like this would have a professional football player write an article without editorial support. There are dozens of grammatical, formatting, and spelling errors. The world is falling apart! Get off my lawn!

I dunno if Edelman really counts, he's only jew-ish.

Write an article about grammar using his article as a point of reference.

There is certainly plenty of material, but no audience.

I like a lot of their stuff and have been reading them since they started but this is a valid point/concern. They just dont know the assignments.

The Ringer had a good article on the spread making things tough for talent evaluators for the exact same reason you described. It mentions how Robinson in Tennessee specifically targeted Conklin because of his experience in a pro style offense. Mostly talks about QBs but touches on the OL as well.

The NFL Isn’t Ready for the Spread Offense

I've read this before.

This ... is a great read!

I love this ****. It's very to the point and complex at the same time.

Athleticism rules the day.

From youth hockey to soccer. It's all about putting the most talented people out there ... and then "scheming".

Much more about talent nowadays.

And you get the comedy act of a new QB and C trying to complete a simple exchange.

Like the article said though. Teams are using analytics to find their guy or try to more often. Arizona with Humphries and their approach w/ him. Seattle w/ Fant.

Other teams do it w/ other positions.

It helps to identify a prospect too.

The beauty of it is when you get someone like Brady who sits back and uses it to his advantage to find the weak spot.

Nice piece.

Oh good lord, that was orgasmic reading for us football nerds. SO GOOD.
