If you could have added a Patriots player in his prime to the roster to help out on sunday's Super Bowl, what player do you think could have been the difference maker between winning and losing?

During the Belichick era of course

I think my answer to this would be one that would be least expected.

Corey Dillon.

based on the way this game played out or D did enough and our O gave us a lead late we just needed to run out the clock.

In comes Clock Killing Corey Dillon. And he would have ran right over the nascar d like Gravedigger on Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.

Personally, Ty law, and Lawyer Milloy thrown in there for a bonus !!! I doubt that 50 yarder to Manningham would have happened. He would have been belted the moment his hands touched the ball.

That's easy. Ty Law OWNED Peyton Manning in the playoffs, Eli would have been child's play for him.

The defense outplayed its talent level, in every respect except takeaways, and I'm not convinced they would have performed any better with one more major talent.

So I'd go for an offensive skill player. I think it would have made a winning difference to have any of:

Randy Moss
Prime Deion Branch
Corey Dillon (for reasons stated above)
Troy Brown
David Givens

Green-Ellis can do that, the problem is Bill O'Brien must get bored watching run plays because he can't stick at it.

Look at the Ravens game for a prime example of that, Lawfirm was running all over them but he kept going back to passing for some bizarre reason.

Hopefully McDaniels will be more open about using the running game next season because there are some talented backs on this team.

I'd go with Ty Law, no brainer really with some of the players that have got time at CB this season.

Randy Moss in his prime was the best pure vertical threat to ever play in the NFL.

1998- 2004 Randy Moss all day...

Re: If you could have had one former Patriots player in his prime added to the roster

McGinest (the guy we have REALLY never been able to replace), Harrison, or Moss.

I question whether Law would enjoy the same degree of success in today's NFL.

Gotta go with McGinest. There'd have been less Double teaming of vince for a start.

I went with McGinest as a slight edge over Dillon

McGinest would have closed that pocket forcing Eli to throw quick and short or off target

Dillon would have taken burden off of Brady to win the game plus would have closed out the game with a longer drive and more on the ground than in the air.

Re: If you could have had one former Patriots player in his prime added to the roster

I voted for other, my pick would have been Russ Francis so we could have run our O normally since Gronk was injured and a non factor.

Re: If you could have had one former Patriots player in his prime added to the roster

Andre Tippett although I am tempted to say John Hannah with how Mankins effed up.

Re: If you could have had one former Patriots player in his prime added to the roster

Went with Harrison. Would've gone with Dillon, but I don't know how much difference he could make with 10 touches...

Re: If you could have had one former Patriots player in his prime added to the roster

Randy Moss in his prime easily. There's no one that can cover a young Randy Moss.

Second choice would be either Rodney Harrison or Ty Law

Re: If you could have had one former Patriots player in his prime added to the roster

Seymour And McGinest.

Just read the title, not the qualifier, then B Coates wouldn't count since he was cut before the 2000 season, though he was here when BB was coaching with Parcells.....OK Daniel Graham.

Re: If you could have had one former Patriots player in his prime added to the roster

Willie McGinnest

He solves 2 of the biggest needs: Defensive Leadership, and Pass Rush

Re: If you could have had one former Patriots player in his prime added to the roster

Harrison, two huge needs; leadership for the D backfield and attitude.

Re: If you could have had one former Patriots player in his prime added to the roster

How 'bout Charlie Weis circa 03/04???? I know not a player, BUT...those teams knew how to close out games on offense, like this current collection of players and coaches failed to do last Sunday
