he has shown no signs of that at all this year. Maybe the SB will be too much for him..but this game shouldn't be
By "he" you mean Colin K? December 2 vs St Louis, loss with the 49ers scoring only 13 points. December 23rd, loss scoring only 6 (plus 7 points in garbage time). December 30 vs Arizona, win scoring 27 points (10 of it is from drives starting deep in Arizona territory).
The guy racked up an amazing amount of yards vs GB. Kudos for that performance. Obviously he has got the potential to roll up the score using his feet and he has shown, at times, operating a passing game. But look at that GB game. He, a QB, ran for almost
200 yards against a GB team that appeared to be game planning to let him run. Not even a superb running athlete like Colin K should ever be within breathing distance of 200 yards rushing against a playoff caliber NFL defense. So what happens if he runs for only 100 (still a superb rushing performance)? That game is probably close -- even with GB clearly being physically pushed around on both sides of the ball.
IF the Patriots face the 9ers in the SB (I'll be surprised if we lose to Baltimore), I would hope the Patriots play some fundamentally better ball than the first game. For instance actually blocking for TFB. If the OL performs as they did in the first game, Colin K could have a club foot and we are going to lose. Second, we actually will not let receivers get deeper than the coverage (how many times did that happen?). It's not terribly odd for not only a QB to be successful when you don't cover receivers past 20 yards but for that team to win the game. And considering that GB game, for the two weeks leading up to the SB the Patriots practice keeping the pressure
in front of Colin K versus leaving huge gaps for him to cake walk through for 20 or 30 or 40 yards.
At this point Colin K hasn't done nearly enough to be afraid of him and feel like we need him to have a bad game to be able to win.
