Top 5 win for the franchise?

In my opinion nothing will top SB 36. Ever. Even a 19-0 season.

Now you're talking! We won't know if it's top five until it's over, and if they do win and end up winning two weeks later (no jinx, no jinx, no jinx) how can all the SB wins not rank above an AFC Championship game? Plus the win over Pittsburgh in 2001 in the AFCCG would rank, for me, as the all time best AFCCG win because it was so unexpected and so awesome!

That was awesome!

And what a way for Drew to end his playing career with the Pats. Coming in there rusty when the team needed him - and IMO doing an admirable job given the circumstances.

lol I was just going to make this thread.

This is a game where the risk is well worth the reward.
Maybe we lose (I don't believe we will, but maybe). What happens?

Peyton's soft, non-clutch Bronco team moves on to get humiliated by the NFC. Meanwhile, everyone understands that Brady has been working with no-names and rookies. It won't affect the legacy of anyone on our side on the slightest.

But what happens if we win?
Tom Brady gets to celebrate his 6th AFC Championship in Mile High in front of a bunch of idiotic Donko fans, in a year where the Patriots have been decimated by injuries and lost all their offensive weapons. The bragging rights that will come with a win for the Patriots far, far outshine anything Peyton's ball washers will be able to say considering all circumstances and the fact that I give Denver zero chance of beating either the Niners or the Hawks.

This is like betting a dollar and potentially winning a hundred.

All the SB victories would have to rank higher and it's hard to put this above:

2001: Beating the Steelers who had their bags packed.

2003: Beating the Colts and picking Manning 4 times, "CUT THAT MEAT!"

2004: Beating the Steelers and Joey "they will never ever ever be on our level" Porter.

2007: Beating.....er um.....watching LT sulk on the bench.

2011: Beating the rat birds and watching Suggs ugly race register the reality.

They're all sweet in their own fashion as this will be IF they pull it off.

They will play in the sb again.
I hate this thread and its opposite; they betray a particularly New England mindset. I call it irish (or Yankee, if you prefer) voodoo. If you can think of all the bad things that might happen and say them out loud, they won't happen

2001: Snow game vs the Raiders. One of the greatest games I've ever seen.

Always had a bit of a chubby for the Win in San Diego in 06 playoffs. Not the most memorable. But I loved shutting them up.

....then they've got two weeks to prepare for the next one.

Well, by definition, Wins 1, 2 and 3 are the SB wins (for me, SB XXXVI will always be in a class by itself), so it's hard to tell where this would go as a W without knowing whether or not they closed the deal two weeks later.

If they did, it might be a candidate for #5 (but, I'd have to think about that for a while).

If they didn't, there would be the satisfaction of having kept Peyton from a chance at a second Ring, but, for me at least, that might not be enough to put it ahead of a couple of the AFCCG's on the way to Lombardi's.

Otherwise, this is a jinx thread. Begone! :singing:

If the Patriots win this game .....

The heads of all Jets Nation explode!

The New England Patriots play in MetLife Stadium.

Mars Attacks!

Not to mention the classy way he handled his demotion. He could have split that locker room apart.

If you had to pick the ideal game-deciding play, would we choose:

a) a pick-6 thrown by Manning
b) a goal line 4th down QB sneak by Brady
c) a drop on 4th down by Welker
d) a beastly run by Blount
e) a screen to Edelman for a TD
f) a hail Mary to the endzone, caught on the deflection by Hooman

I pick a or b, but any will do

I hope pats win. Squash all this premature peyton GOAT talk. Seriously? Montana is the GOAT (until Brady gets number 4)

I definitely shed some tears of joy in that one......I mean, for a split second there defeat was inevitable (I'm referring to when the defender intercepted the ball on fourth down)...

Chargers ball, game over......But Wait, Troy Brown strips the defender, Pats recover, Pats recover!!!

Out of those, A but, how about:

Blount returns the opening kick off 109 yards for a TD which sets the tone for a blow out, thus being the game deciding play

How much would everyone here love that?!

Probably foolish but part of me thinks the Pats should throw the kitchen sink at the Broncos. Play like a team that really has nothing to lose.

Like starting with an onside kick. Or going for 2 on their first TD. I'd love to think they'd have the guts to do that. Or even if less dramatic... send someone deep on a 9 route on the very first play of the game and have Brady go his way.

Sunday will either be the worse day of the year or the best. All we need is one more ring for BB and Brady to secure their legacy. So tired of the spygate crap. I took the first 3 super bowls for granted, only 21 so I grew up watching the dynasty. One things for damn sure, when they win the next one I'm going to enjoy it to the max.
