It is much more difficult today then it was in Lombardi's time. Back then, you win the equivalent of todays division, you get to play in the NFL Championship game, the version of todays Super Bowl. It was only in the last two years in GB that Lombardi played in todays SB format. He won the back to back SBs in dominant fashion.

Lombardi had a .754 winning record with GB and Belichick a .734 record with NE. Lombardi won the equivalent of 5 SB in 6 tries. Belichick 4 SB in 6 tries.

It's hard to compare two different eras with different playoff formats. I would say Belichick is as good as Lombardi but I wouldn't say that he is so much better that the SB trophy should be renamed.

All true, but should his accomplishments in the Giants success be overlooked? all though, not as a head coach?
