I don't expect a very happy board after the draft

I think the depth of the draft is going to make it almost impossible for the majority of the board to be happy with who we pick up.

It seems that in a lot of the mock drafts that have been posted, especially with the top 4 picks, just one "bad" selection has a lot of people calling it a total failure because of who else we could have taken.

One thing I'm certain of: we cannot draft Tebow and have a happy board, period. I think we could land Alex Carrington and Brandon Spikes with 7th round compensatory picks and it wouldn't be enough to stop the uproar over a wasted pick on Tebow.

There's just too much talent this year. The Pats can't reach, they can't take a luxury pick, they simply can't "miss" whatsoever before Day 3. (even then they better get it right)

In time, this draft class might prove to be a great one for us. But with what I've seen on this board, I doubt it will be considered a great one on Sunday morning.

I will only be really upset if they don't draft a pass-rushing OLB in the first 3 rounds. I trust BB to pick the right players, but if they ignore this long-time and glaring need again-when there is no forseeable solution on the roster, through free agency, or trade-I will be very dissapointed.

It's impossible to make everybody happy but I think the Pats can avoid a major uproar from 99.9% of Pats fans if they stay away from a TE in round 1 and Tebow in round 2.

I will only be upset 3 years from now when I look back at the draft and say how did we not grab player X? I called player X being awesome from day one. I'm so much smarter than these clowns.

I do agree with you there. In the past, we were screaming for an OLB because we were so old at the position. This year, we are screaming for an OLB because we need an OLB, period.

With our need at that position, if we don't take one early, (assuming there is good fits available when we pick) I'll be scratching my head.

Luckily BB does not care a hoot how happy we are.

I remember the outrage when Seymour was picked. Why pick a guy with a tiny number of sacks when there were those great receivers still on the board? Big Receivers. What could be better than that?

Back on topic, I'm pretty sure I'll be happy on draft day. I just have a good feeling about this year. Hope springs eternal and all that rubbish. :singing:

I see alot of people on here saying how many holes we have and hoping to get 4 impact players with the first 4 picks. It never works like that we know; we will surely trade down, trade into next year, trade for another JAG pass rusher like Burgess and end up with Tebow, a no-name "reach" and at TE and thats it for the first 2 rounds. Thing is, BB is playing with house money so it really doesnt matter what we think.....

As long as we draft T'eo Nesheim from Washington 6-3 263 with a 4/7 forty and the best 3-4 OLB three cone. I am sold on this guy he has production plus workout numbers. He plays with high effort and he plays with unreal intensity plus a tremendous work ethic. This guy just smells like a Patriot. Only concern I have is his ability to drop into coverage but his workout numbers say he should be just fine doing that as well.

Have you actually seen him play though? I'm also pretty intrigued by his stats and measurables but I haven't seen him play in a full game.

Exactly. I think the team has made some very good picks in the past by going against the grain or "reaching" for players.

Look at 2006. Getting Maroney in the 1st round then landing Chad Jackson in the 2nd round was a steal. Adding David Thomas in the 3rd and the Pats were getting praised after Day 1. It turns out that a kicker taken "way too early" was the best pick of the draft, although Maroney hasn't exactly been useless.

I'm not saying I don't want certain players, I certainly have my favorites. But I don't freak out if we take someone while a "higher rated" player is still available.
