Howe: Pats Ecstatic with Mac this Offseason (so far)

Amazing and telling that before I even read the posts of certain people here I already know it will be a negative vibe. Says a lot about the person.

You have to feel optimistic about Mac - professional, hard worker, leader, intelligent. All the off-field attributes you want from your QB. I'm expecting a decent year two jump on what was an impressive rookie season. If Mac improves by just 20%, the offense could take a real step forward.

I like the point that he is engaged, offering in put as to what works and what doesn't for him... That's part of the maturation process we want to see

I hope Mac is able to take few weeks off and completely remove himself from anything football and competition related before the season starts. I know there are training gaps before the season but I think he is so driven that he isn’t taking any time off. Need to rest that mind and arm for a bit IMO…especially for a young player.
Go to New Hampshire.

Wino did and had a good time.

Good Lord, you people are miserable.
Anything that might take the shine off Brady is immediately met with criticism and ridicule by the same 4-5 posters on every thread. Time for them to find a new team to root for that might make them happy. Wait they do have a new team to root for, they just come here to ***** about the Patriots and are the definition of trolls. But mods won’t do anything about it.

A portion of this quote caught my attention.....

"He is also taking ownership of the offense, willing to vouch for plays and concepts that he likes and pump the brakes on the stuff that hasn't worked."

Am I correct in interpreting the back half of the above quote as.....
Mac is already rejecting plays schemed up by NE's failed ex-coaches/offensive consultants....and it is only May 21 ?

No you are not correct.

How is this a report? "Team Really Likes Its Star Player".

Stop the presses!

thats the thing…he‘s not a star player…yet. the report is saying Mac is doing what he CAN to take the step to be a star player, which is what makes the news exciting.

I, for one, am going to immensely enjoy Mac kicking ass all year. He thrives on challenges, competition, and puts in the effort physically and mentally in order to succeed. His skill and brains, and Belichick's counsel and coaching are going to be a winning recipe. Let's go, Pats.

Football is exciting in New England. Lot to look forward to... Going to be a fun season

It is qualified with a (so far) so I guess the seeds of doubt are planted..

I think there's a tiny difference between a report of optimism about a 4th round pick who has never played yet, and the 15th overall pick who was a Pro-Bowl alternate his rookie year. The latter has a teensy bit more to back it up than just some blind faith, wouldn't you agree?

My point earlier which might have been worded poorly was this is great that the work ethic might be there- but I wouldn’t expect anything different. He was drafted in the first round for a reason. If he WASN’T putting in the work didn’t have the work ethic and all that then the Patriots would have a problem.

I expect my franchise QB-to-be to be in the film room early etc and doing what it takes to get to the next level and become as great as we all want him to be.
