How Weekly Practice Affects Game Outcomes

this has been on my mind for a long while

i don't have any proof of this, because its been amassed throughout the last couple of years (actually much longer, but highlighted the last few years)

I have often heard BB say after a loss, that the team had a bad practice week, this is not a one or two time thing, the instances that pop to my mind are the Giants loss in 07 and the ravens loss last year

other times, when we destroy a team, i have heard BB say that the team had an excellent practice each day of the week

im starting to think this is NOT coincidence, but why would a practice dictate game outcomes THAT much? I do not understand how the practice supercedes playcalling, and even execution.....or is execution simply better when the practice is well?

either way, i believe we can determine if the Patriots win or lose by how well BB thinks their practices went before the game, and I think that correlation would be very large
I think it is HUGE, maybe even bigger with our team because we vary game plans so much week to week.
Think about how every time we lose people complain that they were 'flat' or didnt try, or care, or mailed it in.
Realistically, it is foolish to think that anyone in a sport that is about collisions and physically beating the man across from you would just not feel like trying during a game and get beaten up. After once or twice, I can guarantee you effort isnt lacking.
What does that leave? PREPARATION. Teams that look 'flat' or 'disinterested' are teams that just have a bunch of things not work. Its all about preparation. If you are surprised at the way a team attacks or defends you, you lose because you were unprepared. If you have miscommunication and blown assignments, its because you were not prepared.
There is an old football saying that winning is 99% preperation and 1% perspiration. It still holds true.

Or, teams practice well when they have better execution, i.e., better players, schemes, timing, teamwork, coaching, etc. It's a chicken-or-the-egg to me.
But you have to develop those things in practice to have them in the game.
But I do agree that all things equal you practice better when you are coming of a well played game.
I think its more a matter of focus and preparation though.
You can have a good week of running plays in practice, with a great postive upbeat attitude, but if you don't have the focus of preparation, it all changes when the other team punches you in the mouth.

If they were honest, they'd have to say "we sucked at practice, but still kicked ass" at least once.

It'll never happen.
I think that it has. Not in those words, but I definitely remember comments about how they struggled through practice all week and certain things werent working well, but come game time they were great.

BB comment in the post-game PC last night:

======
On whether they had a better week of practice compared to last week

“Well it was definitely better, but that wouldn’t take much.”

======

Does "that wouldn't take much" refer to the impact of the practice on the actual game?

Or that the previous week's practice was so bad that it wouldn't take much to improve?

I am assuming the latter, curious to know what others think.

i believe he meant the latter...but said in a way in which this week's practice was very good....and last week's was horrendus
