How on Earth was this not a flag?

The refs play favorites in every game. Lavonte David threw his helmet while on the field of play vs Dallas and it was never called. All for the NFL to have the Bucs win the opener.

It would have been a flag if it was a hit on Tom.
Probably, but only because it would have been a flag 99% of the time on any QB.

But for those who believe Brady got favorable treatment, I remember the study posted here 2 or 3 years ago that showed Brady received the 3rd fewest flags per QB over the previous decade. The QB who was hit constantly without flags was Ben Roethlisberger. That guy takes a beating with no flags. So people's sense that you can't hit Tom is contradicted by the stats.

For Ben, you could call it Big Guy Bias. Gronk had the same problem (might still, but I don't see him every week anymore). Guys are so big that impacts on them look lighter than they are, so they don't get the calls.

I think he would have had such a tantrum that he would have drawn it. I think Mac could have done a better job in that dept. I get he's trying to show he's a tough guy and not rattled, so there's that too.

Judon was "finishing the play" too on that punt... and out comes the flag. Weird. He was also held all game and no call.

Always great to beat the other team and their refs.
you knew Judon was going to get that flag... he was under the punters feet... they call that one all week long and twice on sundays

Complete bs. I’m glad team was able to overcome the officiating in this sequence and the fumble, it was starting to look like a classic game we should win that we’ll find a way to lose

The refs were abysmal yesterday. Luckily we came up with the win. That call and the one where Meyers was hooked were the most obvious.

The refs in general were very, very permissive of funny business yesterday... DPI wasn't a factor in either direction even though it should have been arguably in both directions.
yesterday was just about "anything goes" with respect to WR/DB hand fighting, pushing, bumping, etc. Just don't give a full arm extension push off, and do not grab a jersey, and you're good. Which mostly helps NE, to be honest. Our guys get pretty handsy and more effective when all non-blatant contact is allowed. More like "playoff reffing".

But to allow shots after the whistle, like the one on Mac, is just flat-out wrong.

I thought I saw the ref get hit by a Charger during another fight and not get the flag.

I like how literally a play later Tobert missed the most egregious hold that happened in the end zone

Although ultimately it didn't matter refs bailing the Chargers out lead to a pick-6

That should have been a safety. Oh, and the refs don't miss calls these type of calls. They just don't want to throw the flag since it would have been a game changer.

Refs took the day off yesterday. Mind blowing how bad it was across the league.

Goodell should be proud.

The punt call was especially stupid because it was entirely momentum caused before the punt happened. What's Judon supposed to do, change how physics works?
It's a 5 yard penalty, running into the kicker

This was clearly a penalty and I was shocked they did not throw a flag

I don't disagree but I think it doesn't matter. if you don't get the ball you better make sure you miss the punter

the announcers were spewing about how Torbert went to Harvard, so he can’t be dumb. I just don’t think he wanted to throw the flag at times.

Judon gets more non-calls than anyone I've ever seen. You'd think that red outfit he has should make him more visible.

Judon got an incredible number of pressures yesterday - 2 sacks and 8 hurries for 10 total pressures (out of 20 for the whole team). Barmore was second with 3 pressures.

Went to Harvard and missed a layup. It wasn't whistle-hit on Mac, bang bang. It felt like 4 seconds elapsed before it took him down.

They call tackier hits all day long in the league.
