How much longer in the Brady era?

In a couple of weeks Tom will turn 31. Whcih has me thinking about the great Brady era that we as Patriots fans have been priviledged to have.

He should have 3 more years left in his prime and then a slight decrease every year after that.

My guess is that he will play through his 35th birthday. That will give us another 5 years remaining in the Brady era. I really don't see him playing on after that time.

What do you guys think? It's all guess work and speculation but how many more year are left in the Brady Eara?

I think that by 2012 the FO gets more serious on looking for a QB of the future - at 34 at that time, Brady should start to decline in his talent,hopefully slowly at that.

I'm all for it, but I think that Tom has a lot of things that he wants to do outside football, he's not like Peyton Manning who is more Farve like and will play until they kick him out of the league or his body falls apart.

I'm hoping we now have Steve Young on the roster with our new "sleeper" rookie QB. I tend to think we have five more years left of Tom. Pretty amazing to think he's already more than halfway through his career. Jets, Dolphins and Bills fans are counting the days ...

Depends how healthy he stays, how O'Connell looks and how much money Brady wants. In three years when his contract is up, if O'Connell is ready I could see Belichick making the tough decision not to put $15M per year into a 34 year old contract but I could see some other team signing him to that to get "Tom Brady".

Best case, they work it out to everyone's satisfaction and we get 6 or so more years out of our Tommy. That is what I expect. However I wouldn't be stunned if he plays out these three years then gets mega $$$ elsewhere.

I think Kraft will make every concession for Tommy to stay. As all powerful as Bill is, I think Kraft will trump all things Brady if it comes to the scenario you laid out. That's just my opinion.

I do agree with you that both side will work it out to everyone's satisfaction, Bill/Tom/Mr. Kraft, when that time comes.

TB loves the game and works at it real hard during the offseason, I bet he plays to 38-40yrs old if healthy. He once said so when asked about Testaverde. But why even think about it, just enjoy every season with the best QB ever leading the Pats to 2-3 more SB championships and cementing his place atop the all time list of legends.

Based on his skillset, he could be competitive for another decade if he so chooses. That's a big if though. I say 7 years. Retires at 38. Hoenstly, I'd peg Manning for about the same as well. Knock on wood.

Brett Favre and Jeff Garcia just put up Pro-Bowl seasons at ages 38 and 37 respectively.

There's nothing at this moment that would lead me to believe Brady will not also have the longevity, seeing how he has the third longest active QB start streak in the league right now if I recall.

Forever. Brady is immortal. He will never age, and only get better at football.

At least that is what I tell myself to put off the notion of watching the Pats without him....
