Players simply don't get traded for #1 picks in the NFL. There are only a handful of guys in the league who can command a #1 (Brady and Seymour the only 2 Pats) and those guys don't get traded.

lets not forget that drew bledsoe got us a first round pick
although it was for the next yrs draft
