How do you see the AFC playing out?

My bad for making it sound that way. I am definitely not assuming a loss to Houston or any team. I believe the Patriots can win all 5 and likely are to win all 5 despite the injuries. Consider: the Patriots were without their top 3 targets and effectively without a backfield for running or passing, and they went into a very tough venue on a short week to take on the "best D" in the league --- they should have won (refs and a bad PR catch). If they can do that with such a weakened team then all 5 opponents are beatable.

Assuming the worst and we hypothetically lose (which is a disclaimer I should have put in my last post), I see Houston as the team likeliest to give us trouble/cause a loss. But as long as we beat Philly as well as get guys back over the next two weeks, a Houston loss is well within the Bye margin of error. But if we lose to Philly (I don't believe we will), our toughest win (Houston) with a still depleted team becomes a must win. Hypothetically

I'm not meaning to suggest that you're assuming any type of loss, only that it seems to be a hot opinion lately re: Houston. Certainly didn't mean to act as if I'm calling you out, only that I'm not sure that we'll necessarily struggle with the Texans as much as some may think. I should have been clearer myself.

I don't think it is one of those games that anyone should overlook, especially now that it's in prime time. I just think that we should end up okay, that's all. I may be way off in this prediction, of course.

Pats
Broncos
Bengals
Colts
Steelers
Jets

My dream is to have Indy marching into Foxboro for the Divisional round & Denver to travel to Cincinnati! That will be two very intriguing matchups!

Patriots
Bengals
Broncos
Houston/Indy
Kansas City
Pittsburgh

KC over Houston/Indy
Denver over Pitt
Cincy over Denver
New England over KC
New England over Cincy

If pittsburgh doesn't lay an egg at home vs the broncos, we should get the bye .Pittburgh and cincy is another game. Of course as long as we win our games.
Bottomline, go steelers! (ugh!)

I think we are overlooking the jets...they will be playing for the post season, so while the Texans and Philly are important so is the jets game. I think Miami is giving up but they tend to give us fits. Philly makes me nervous only because the sucked so bad lately they need a statement game.

Denver loses at least one more, maybe two
Cincy not sure they lose anymore, I think they take the steelers

so my worst case is

NE 14-2
Cincy 14-2 (gets the nod for 1st if they beat Denver)
Denver 13-3
Indy
Steelers (only if they beat Cincy) or KC (Steelers have to play both Denver and Cincy)
Jets (and why that game make me nervous)

I think the Playoff perspectives posted by others may be correct, but I have a different perspective of what happens in the remaining games of the season. I feel too many posters are too optimistic. I base my projections on the relatively expected time to recover from the injuries that they have suffered.

The depleted Patriots are not now a juggernaut. But several of the injured players may return in the next 2 -3 weeks. Solder, the LOT, Dion Lewis the quick back, and Aaron Dobson the outside WR depth, are gone for the year.

Hopefully, Amendola, Edelman, , Jamie Collins, and Donta Hightower and perhaps Colemen will be back around then.

Unfortunately I think the Patriots in their deleted and helpless state, may lose one or two of of the next two games.

Fortunately the Offensive line saw everyone save Solder play this past weekend. I assume they need another week or two to erase the rust, and get some teamwork. But there is no doubt that without their starting LOT, the Pats O line is vulnerable. Amendola may return this week but I think he will be still a game away. Gronk may return in 2 weeks, and Edelmen in 3 weeks. That gives the Pats 2 weeks in the regular season to erase the rust. So the Offense may be still be capable, unlike it is now.

On Defense, Collins may return this week, and Hightower in 3 weeks. If no more injuries occur they will be a fine Defense for the Playoffs.

These estimates are the normal expectations for the injuries the Pats incurred. A sprained knee is a 3-4 week injury, and a broken foot a 6-8 week injury. I would not be surprised to see the Pats finish 13-3 or even 12-4 both of which likely get a bye and perhaps even a HFA. But hey may need to win thier last two games to get that record.

For top seeding the Pats can afford a loss this weekend to Philly, but it gets dicey if they lose to an AFC team.
If the Pats lose to a team as bad as the Eagles they are in serious trouble.

In 2004 Pats were 11-1 and lost to the Dolphins who were 2-11 in late December. This game ended up being a key reason why they didn't get homefield. Hard to believe they didn't get a 1 seed with a 14-2 record. They ended up running the table and winning the SB. I think the pats will beat Philly, but losing with all the injuries does not mean they are in serious trouble. This Sunday's game means the least for the rest of the schedule because they are playing a NFC team

Reversal of '13 season. Denver comes to us and loses in the championship game.

Except we do the blowing out in the SB. Yeah...I can dig it

We wont lose to the Eagles. No way, that team is a dumpster fire ready to jettison their coach. The Texans game will be much more important. Hopefully Gronk is back for it.

Won't really matter for the Pats as the NFL is going to make damn sure TB doesn't get a 5th ring and surpass the other 4 ringers

Wildcard
Denver vs Chiefs
Texans vs Steelers

Pats vs Chiefs
Bengals vs Steelers

Pats vs Steelers

Pats vs Cardinals

in 04' it wouldn't have mattered since pittsburgh had the tiebreaker. that was the game joey porter said we "can't get on their level. never ever ever."

Pats still get 1 seed I believe. Having a 1 game lead with 5 left and Cinci playing Denver still makes the math real good.

You are right. I forgot the Steelers ended the pats winning streak on Halloween. Getting revenge in the AFC championship in Pittsburgh was the best. What a performance by Brady. I remember he was really sick with a high temperature. Also loved when Branch waved goodbye to the crowd after scoring a touchdown.
