5. Kansas City - Glen Dorsey, DT LSU
15. Kansas City - Branden Albert, G Virginia
(35) Kansas City - Brandon Flowers, CB Virginia Tech
(73) Kansas City Chiefs - Jamaal Charles, RB Texas
(76) Kansas City Chiefs - Brad Cottam, TE Tennessee
(82) Kansas City Chiefs - DeJaun Morgan, S North Carolina State

That is one heck of a draft IMO.

It helps having 2 picks in the top 15

That kind of draft helps a team get back into contention sooner than later with the exception of the small possibility that most of those picks will be busts.

If a team can get just 3 or 4 guys each year to become good enough starters in a 3 year period all of a sudden a team gets good pretty fast

San Diego is a good example of a crappy team that got good thru consecutive productive drafts - it does not take long

They just need to find out if their young QB can play. Then after a few years improving with the draft and free agents, they can be good enough for Herm to get them close to the playoffs.

They had a very sexy big name draft, Mel Kiper doesn't need viagra tonite.. the problem with these types of drafts is the expectations tend to be unreal for them and often they have difficulty adjusting.. I prefer the pats way, bring in new complimentary players instead of burning them out too early when they are not ready for the NFL.

As long as Herm Edwards is coaching them, they are not going anywhere.

Ah, but they didn't -- they traded up to make that happen.

The Chiefs got very, VERY lucky, especially with Dorsey sliding. But that doesn't change the fact that they did a lot with it, and appear to have upgraded their talent considerably.

But who's going to play DE for that team???

So the Chiefs sucked in 2007 (giving them high picks in every round) and they traded their best player for draft picks...and they ended up with an impressive draft? Shouldn't surprise anyone. I guess you have to give them credit for not forgetting to get their draft cards in on time.

Teams get high draft grades by default if they have a bunch of high draft picks.
