The patriots won against Denver after giving up a lead again in the fourth quarter. The same happened against the saints but there lost against the bengals and the panthers. I remember a time there were absolute automatic when leading in the fourth but now even if there up by 13 points I'm still not confident the patriot will win.

It might have something to do with the facts that:
a) Brady was throwing to 6 rookies/second-stringers most of the season,
b) We're short of 18 starters overall with a bunch more banged up.
c) The refs have completely jobbed us TWICE on game-winning plays
d) One of our comeback drives was played during a mini-typhoon.

But that's just me.

This thread makes no sense... Panthers are a very good team, Broncos are an excellent team and Bengals can be a very good team.. check the results yesterday, there are upsets galore.

Considering how many folks we have lost and the amount of rookies we are playing, thought we have been playing very well... better than expected.

Did the practice squad get merged with the main forum?

???

You wait until after a game like THIS to make this topic? They held Manning to about a 50 percent completion percentage and a 70 QB rating. The Broncos scored SEVEN points in the second half and 13 minutes of overtime, so about 43 minutes of football. They also needed a few of the typical ticky tack flags that Forehead usually gets to even get their one score.

After all that happened in that epic game, you came up with THIS?

I know! I just burst out laughing. Is this thread for real???

Ya wanna talk about "holding onto a lead?" Call the Denver Broncos!

The OP should be banned for life for this thread!

Some good answers to the OP but I'll play along.

When you're ahead in the 4th, the defense is playing the run. Since the Patriots always run on first down in that situation, it puts the offense in second and long. Then there's the inevitable drop/incompletion, and suddenly things don't look so good.

BTW I'm assuming you didn't watch the first Patriots Super Bowl victory when they gave up a 14-point lead in the 4th quarter.

You probably didn't even watch the second Super Bowl victory either when they gave up an 11-point lead in the 4th quarter, went back up 7, then gave up that lead too, before pulling it out.

Quite frankly, I'm really not quite sure what time you seem to be trying to remember here. Are you from the 1970s?
