Hogan's Injury Leaves Patriots In Tough Shape Heading Into the Bye

    Ian Logue

The Patriots offense had a productive afternoon Sunday against the Chargers, but they weren't quite able to escape unscathed during the win over Los Angeles on Sunday.

Hogan would be huge loss. He has great chemistry with Brady and he has a clutch factor to him. Hoping for the best..

Even in the best case scenario of a "minor" shoulder separation (ligaments stretched, but not torn), Hogan might miss the next 2-3 games.

This may (or may not) add yet another layer of complexity to potential trade scenarios over the next 30-something hours.

Aside from the obviously bad situation of being down to three healthy WRs (and Slater, lol), IMHO the offense has been held back a bit by a lack of viable passing targets for various situations, primarily because Gronk has been the only TE capable of doing anything in the passing game so far. Having three RBs who can catch only makes up for part of that lack.

With Hogan out, I think that Dorsett is capable of helping out a bit more than he has so far, but they'll still need another WR body. However, more receiving production from the TE position would help more, I think, especially in the red zone.

Phillip Dorsett should be more than up to Speed in the Offense by now. I am sure we knew sooner or later his opportunity would come. This is a well needed Bye week for our boys they needed it.

It would be nice to see what Dorsett can do while Hogan recovers. Hopefully it is just a few games though and not worse

Couldn't watch the game against the Chargers, is it a shoulder or arm injury? He was already in need of a dental procedure because he lost the 2 frontal teeth in practice (1001 lol) , so let the guy heal completely, he deserves and we are good at 6-2, but the WR was thin already considering Dorsett has been invisible, this only makes it worse.

Hollister, maybe? I've been impressed by what little I've seen from him.

Watching the replay, it looks like he definitely has an AC Sep and probably has damaged the ligaments in there as well. The good thing is that this can be repaired but the bad thing is, it’s going to take some time. I don’t like being all doom and gloom but he’s done for the season.

I really think Dorsett can make it here, and make it big, especially with Cooks opposite him...BUT, every time I hear about him, he's walking around with ice on his knee. I get the feeling he hasn't been 100% since he came here.

Dorsett should be good now considering the paltry amount of snaps he's been getting because of our WR Dept Chart. I think if he gets over 40 snaps we'll see a different player with good results.

Got to love the armchair doctors predicting doom and gloom. Mike reiss said initial optimism it isnt serious, pro football talk said chris hogan says he thinks he will be ok, and rappoport says believe could be ac joint sprain.

No indication it is season ending yet....with higgtower we heard right away there was concern it was more

Seriously, this is idiotic. To say he is done from a shoulder without seeing the imaging is just plain stupid.

IF it's a Grade 1 sprain it 2-4 weeks if its a Grade 3 then he could be done for the season being an athlete and all.

A move that’s maybe not out of the realm of possibility would be something like trading Allen and a late-round pick to Detroit for Ebron. Both players may need a change of scenery and Detroit gets a little extra value.

I'd trade Allen for a Gatorade and celebrate that I got a great deal.
