A very interesting blog note from Albert Breer.

http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/patriots/?p=332

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan spoke on the conference call to his relationship with Bill Belichick, which for years has seen bouquets heaved from the Rockies to the banks of the Atlantic and back.

Shanahan, soon after being hired in Denver in 1995, was asked to rank the best NFL coaches he’d seen. He ranked Oilers/Titans coach Jeff Fisher No. 3, former Bills coach Joe Collier No. 2 and Belichick No. 1. At the time, the Browns were sinking in the wake of the announcement of their move to Baltimore — and Belichick was catching a bum rap for it — so Shanahan was questioned on why he ranked the then-Cleveland coach so high.

“You just wait and see,†said Shanahan.
Not too many folks have ever accused Shanny of being stupid...

That analysis/prediction was pretty amazing...

from that same blog article, I got a kick out of this:

"he (Shanahan) called Ben Watson’s tracking down of Champ Bailey in last year’s playoffs, on the 101-yard touchdown return, the best hustle play he’d ever seen. He says he shows players the tape of it as a teaching point. "
