Hightower not willing to take a pay cut

Not sure if it will be him but I can't see a scenario where all 3 of Gronkowski, Hightower and McCourty are on the 2019 roster without restructre / pay cut

He is officially on a trade watch until the last cutdown day.

Same with DMC

Why in the world would any player admit to being willing to take a pay cut? No player should even entertain the idea until they’re told that a cut or trade is imminent if they don’t.

I say D-Mac is the main one who should be kept.

Definitely surprising if Hightower won’t take any cut. I don’t think anyone else is willing to pay him 12 million a year at this point.

Hightower is the most important player on defense, but with 3 super bowls, he has nothing left to prove here.

Or, the team may actually keep him at his high cap hit, because they’ve won the Super Bowl 3 times with him making huge impact plays in all 3? And with his 2018 postseason performance and abilities on par with his earlier years? That they think he’s worth it? That could be an option too.....

Well Hightower played like his old self late in the season and in the Playoffs so I can't fault him for taking a stand he'll be 29 soon. I think they carry him this year but he's gone baby gone the following year.

HT deserves to be paid. Look at him in the SB games he's a game changer every single year. Brady will have his cap hit lowered from the $27m that it currently is. D-Mac will be the same. Allen will be a cut or lower.

There is plenty of other guys contracts that need looking at before HT's contract

Good thing he’s not taking home 12m this year then. His new earnings for 2019 (the amount of his cap cost that can be changed) is about $8.5m. Do you think he’s worth that? I do.

28 years old, base salary of 7M next year and 8M the year after. Even if he won't take a cut maybe a restructure and extend him out 2-3 more years.

That's seriously cap friendly going froward BB leave the man alone.

We’re officially on LB watch draft wkend. Gotta draft for 2020 and I don’t see Hightower on the team by that point.

Why would he? He has the leverage here. The cap savings isn't enough right now to cut him - that will be NEXT year's discussion (cut, pay cut, or extend), as it will likely be this year with mcCourty.

Dont'a Hightower

No way I'd take a cut were I Hightower - leader on the D, did everything asked of him when it mattered the most, took responsibility for his slow start.

HT cap hit in 2019 is 11 mil.

Every time I see Leighton Vander Esch I get a headache I feel like he should have been a Patriot. Guy had can't miss written all over him.
