Agree completely. Would love to see them sign him. Take great players wherever you can find them.

I have to think that Vrabel would be somewhat more comfortable with the idea given that Baun did all of this with Bobby King as his LB coach. King was with Vrabel for a year in Houston and two years in Tennessee.

Surrounded by elite defensive linemen, good edge rushers, good linebackers, and a good secondary. Baun would have none of those things here. I think he's better than he was in New Orleans but certainly not as good as his numbers last year.

I thought Eagles were going to tag him? I would rather sign Nick Bolton or Dre Greenlaw, but I think Vrabel is high on LB Sherwood from the NYJ.

Lots of media types have speculated he could be a fit here, but not the more recent stuff with local reporters citing intel on specific targets. Jamien Sherwood is the name we've heard more of in that phase of reporting. Just something to consider, not saying it indicates we wouldn't consider him.

I'd be interested in him though. We absolutely 100% need a starting LB next to Bentley, and probably even should be open to looking for a second starter because Bentley is:

1) entering a contract year
2) not that good to begin with
3) coming off injury
4) probably not as much of a scheme fit in Vrabel's reported interest in a faster front 7

I'm open to signing Baun only or Baun and another LB like Sherwood.

Nick Bolton is more interesting though IMO. Longer track record of being productive, history of big plays in big games, 4 years younger. Honestly, give me Bolton and Sherwood and we'd have a speedy, aggressive LB duo I like locked in for the next 3-4 years.

Me too SBB.. but you have to ask though? He was a STs player prior to singing with the eagles... he has Williams and Carter up front... is he flash in the pan?? Like how Uche was that one season??

I bet the Eagles keep him.

Worth a try

De’Vondre Campbell 2.0.

Stay away from him.

I love the thought of having him... but as I just mentioned.. he had great players around him...
This type of thinking I always find funny. I assume Vrabel wants to surround him with great players too. I'd be more worried if you said he was a bad scheme fit. Obviously we aren't close to the Philly D but that just means we need Baun and 3 or 4 other strong pieces it shouldn't mean don't go after Baun.

Vic Fangio is also a very good DC. And as you mentioned, he’s got very good players surrounding him.

Baun has also been in the league for 5 years now, so I don’t buy that he suddenly becomes an All Pro out of nowhere.

He’s Campbell, Paul Kruger, Danell Ellerbe and many defenders from the Pats who were scheme dependent.

If the Eagles let him walk, it’s a red flag.

Good points RM,

I'm always weary of when guys flash one year on another team with another scheme. To your point Godchaux, Tavai to name a few are here because they were BBs Scheme fits. In Vrabel and Williams defense.. they want guys that are one gap, aggressive penetrative DT and LBs.. I just know serianni runs a wide 9 scheme.

I agree my man. Phill plays the wide 9 concept where the DE are lined out wide so it stresses the OTs. We are a One gap, physical, penetrative, aggressive defensive scheme now under Vrabel. We will get our pressure from the DL and max pressure from the LB levels.. Vrabel said last week he doesn't really want to take any DBs out of coverage.
