The title is a bit flip, but a brief look at Miguel's free agency list shows that there isn't anyone else on the roster worthy of a franchise tag next year.

In other words, if Mankins just reports in Week 11 so he can get his six games, he might get a nasty surprise next February. . . .

Agreed. I've seen O-line franchise estimates from $9 - $11 million for next season. Mankins will make $1.5 this season, bringing his 2 year haul into the $10 - $12 million range.

Further, prepare for the CBA to have different franchise numbers for OG than OT. The defensive lineman franchise numbers for tackles and ends are already seperate.

A powerfully good point, sir.

Extra Credit for the "Flip".

Retaining the Trade Value of both Moss and Mankins, in the coming Off Season, is something that'd confounded me.

No longer.

The Masses ~ as well as many intelligent folk ~ will squeal "Get RID of the Bastard!! Let'm WALK!!"

And, within a year, they'll upbraid Coach Belichick for doing just THAT.

I say: Lock the bum UP!!

And if somebody makes us a good offer for'm...GREAT.

If they don't, and he continues to hold out and ruin his career...GREAT.

And if he regains his Sanity and reports...AWESOME.

Insanity aside, I still LOVE Logan Mankins...and would LOVE to see him back at his rightful position in The Trenches, here in New England.

I do not think he will be franchised . Mankins if franchised does not need to sign the contract till the start of game one.

so all he had to do is miss all camps and pratices get a little out of shape and report or better still fake an injury and get the 11 million for sitting out.

Very risky. He shows before week 1, but fails the conditioning test. What now?
