"We want a hit" was frequently chanted in the Fenway bleachers regardless of who was batting. The visiting radio announcers, when hearing it for the first time when their team was up, would be completely befuddled. You could always tell when someone had explained it to them during a commercial, because they would suddenly go radio silent on it.
