Gronk Practicing Thursday 12/10

We were running well last week too with stork. Didnt run enough for some reason. Some of it must be brady changing the calls as well.

I disagree

I'd be shocked if he played. His first practice was on a Thursday before a Sunday game.

surprised he wasn't wearing a knee pad. optimistic he plays in the regular season.

that's only part of it......honestly, we were running the ball better with andrews at C

Stork seems like he's still out to lunch penalties coupled with no push up the middle except on a Brady sneak. Josh Kline have been beaten like a rented mule in recent weeks really hope his injury keeps him on the benched. Kline was owned in Denver and also against the no-name Eagles D.

Behind the scenes story is that Gronk Family implemented my idea of wrapping a humungous kielbasa around the knee for its healing and protective properties. Patsfans can thank me when he returns to the 46 in the next couple weeks.

As frustrated as we all are, I am disappointed that some here have the arrogance to think they know when a player should return without knowing how bad a particular injury is, whether a sprain, bone bruise or whatever. My guess is that he's out there to make Houston have to prepare for him but the fact that he is able to get out and move well does suggest he's not in bad shape and will definitely return this year. Beyond that, I am sure the doctors and the patient know best, not someone here.
Thanks for putting in writing what I'm guessing millions have been thinking. This place has more freaking doctors than Mass General.

Seriously I am looking for 19th opinion.

Not the guy you're responding to, but might as well chime in anyway. It depends on how you define unnecessary. They put him out there knowing that he was at a significantly elevated risk of reinjury, absolutely. I think that's pretty much beyond dispute. I'm guessing that Belichick felt that was a necessary risk, just like he put Dobson out there with a damaged foot that he proceeded to rebreak and basically derail his career. The Pats' gambled with their health because they figured it was worth the risk, and the gamble didn't work out in either case.

We could debate whether or not those risks were necessary, but what isn't debatable is that team doctors (and the team itself) have interests that aren't necessarily always aligned with players'.
I don't know how you quantify "knowing that he was at a significantly elevated risk of re-injury" or even assume that beyond personal conjecture in the case of either Gronk or Dobson. It's easy to reach what seem to be logical conclusions about intent and process with 20/20 hindsight but even then, you're guessing. Perhaps players and teams are sometimes in disagreement over injury risks, but I doubt it's often a huge issue. Like I said, it's in a team's best interest to preserve and protect its assets (players).

Won't say no chance though IMO. I'm focused on getting the likes of Hightower back on the field for this game.

Can we just for a minute forget the ridiculous talk of meddlesome parents and just be incredibly thankful that we get to see the freak back on the field this year?

I mean, what a gift to watch this guy play the game at the highest level ever experienced.
Amen.

Gronk on the field screaming in pain is like the worst thing in life apart from things that actually matter, if that makes sense.

Both came back while clearly suffering from the effects of a previous injury, and both suffered major injuries to the exact same areas--to the point that it cost them entire offseasons--as a result of fairly routine plays

If you don't acknowledge that the existing injuries contributed to the later injuries--which means that they were playing with significantly elevated risk of re-injury--then what exactly do you think happened? Do you think it's pure coincidence that Gronk broke his arm broke his arm in the same place that it was previously broken, or that Dobson hurt the same foot that was already injured, both on fairly routine plays?

If you look at it objectively, I think it's pretty clear that the Pats gambled with their health and lost. Not throwing the team under the bus for it on principle, I'm sure decisions like that are just a part of the game and are made far more frequently than we realize. And I'm sure that gambles like that have paid off spectacularly in the past, and I bet all four Super Bowls hinged at least in part on making gambles like that and not getting burned.

But in those two cases, it didn't pay off. And if the players who got burned by it come out of it not trusting the team to make the right evaluation on their health... well, I can't blame them for reaching that conclusion.

He's limited in practice ...we'll see him next week.

Wow, good to see. I'm with the "next week" crowd!

@BradyFTW! actually he didn't break it on the same place. It broke at the end of the plate, quite possibly because the plate was improperly placed/sized/installed, but the original fracture point was untouched and did not re-break. It is well in the realm of possibility that he could have waited several more weeks (if the season hadn't already ended) and rebroken it anyway.

Still think he sits this week. But he has to be back by next week.

If he is out of any game beyond the Texans, then we have to look at Team Gronk as being too meddlesome. If he is back by the Titans, I owe him and his dad an apology.

Calling Dr Howard, Dr Rob, Dr Howard

nm; already covered in the discussion

Hopefully if he isn't playing sunday he at least makes the trip to keep the Texans guessing.
