Gronk was a pretty darn good TE considering he had back injuries before he even played in the NFL
Best TE who ever played IMO.

Most defenders couldn’t handle him straight up.

Truly a man among boys.

Imagine what he could have done with better health and less cheap shots.

Was it Earl Thomas who hit Gronk in the chest on Monday night and brought Gronk down?

It CAN be done, but not by lesser players like TJ Ward.

Gronk was also very old school. Wasn't afraid to put some big thumps into blindside hits. Broke Vanden Bosch's neck. Took out Sergio. Blasted Lewis. Took hits from Chancellor that had him spitting blood and simply called it a good hit. He is a rare hybrid of modern-pass efficiency and oldschool grit.

I've looked around but can't find any info on it... does this push his Hall Of Fame eligibility out to 5 years again or does it stay at 2021 when he stopped playing with the Bucs?

No change

He’s eligible for the Patriots Hall next year.

Is he eligible to play tonight?
Kraft joked about a 2 day contract and Gronk asked about the signing bonus. I think they settled on one day but we can pray.

Good one!

I think we have the right 4 but if it was 5 Tippett, Seymour, and a couple others would be a good debate.
I'd put Seymour in over Ty Law. Tippet was before my time so I can't fully comment. Law made 4 PBs and 2 first team all pros and had a 3rd place DPOY finish in his 10 years with the team. Seymour made 5 pro bowls, 3 all pro first teams and an all pro 2nd team with a 2nd place DPOY finish in his 8 years. Seymour had more accolades and I think we better at his position than Law was at his so I'd have him above Law.

My father taught me football watching Tippett.

On offense he said follow the ball hope we get to the end zone.

On defense he said follow big Tipp and watch him eat the Q.

Why doesn't it reset the clock since he "officially" retired yesterday?
Because it’s based on when you last appeared in an NFL game. Players don’t actually have to ever “retire”. They just don’t get signed. The league doesn’t treat these one day deals as actual contract because they aren’t under a playing contract.

Think about it… the Pats already have a 53 man roster. If this was an actual playing contract then they’d have had to cut someone to sign him to a deal with no guarantees, pay home a 1 day pro rated amount that hit the cap and then he retires and they sign back a player. There’s fact that it didn’t happen tells you that it isn’t an actual player deal and therefore there’d be no reason to treat it like it is.

Don't understand why some people don't like this "one day contract" thing. I love it. No matter how it ended, Rob was a Patriot legend and I'm glad he finishes as a Patriot.

I just like having him around. He is such a fun persona for Pats fans. I like it even more now that he's retired.
