No. He RETIRED so he didn't have to go to Detroit. He was TRADED for a first round pick, and instead, he retired because he didn't have his ****ing binky.

THAT is why he sat out a year. Not only cost us a first round pick, but also dead cap.
Different year

You forgot how banged up he was and the whole year he took off.

And you forget the way he strong armed his way out of here, un-retiring once the Pats had no cap space. It's okay to acknowledge our beloved heroes have some warts, they're still beautiful. In fact it makes us better fans for appreciating them in spite of it

Also, he got the highest extension ever for a tight end, and then *****ed about his contract the rest of the time he was here, because it wasn't the highest anymore.

That's not what you said you said dgas

Boo fkn hoo.
He hated Bill, stop making excuses, you're like Andy for Christ sake.
I admire some of your arguments, but I'm teetering...

The Andy Rule...I failed..

Have a great night.

The one thing about it: you can't order custom NFL jerseys over a player from the last team they retired with. If the team doesn't want to make it, you're SOL.

Another guy Bill tried to run out of town.
Is there a problem with your memory? The 2018 season he was a shell of himself. He clearly wasn't going to play in 2019 no matter what. He took a year to recuperate. Even during the Super Bowl, he did barely anything until his final seconds heroics.

That's what I remember. Both the Belichick and the Gronk haters are twisting the ending to this story.

Gronk needed a year because he was totally beat down in 2018. Could barely function. We all thought it was a miracle when he made the game winning catch.

How anyone could express any anger or animosity to Patriots legends because of how their tenure ended, whether that be Bill Belichick or Gronkowski, I’ll never understand.

I’ve come around in the last 5 years or so, after seeing how the likes of Belichick, Curt Schilling, and Rob Gronkowski have been treated by Boston fans that Boston is honestly just a bad fan base.

Another greatest of all-time at their position that Bill drafted and won multiple Super Bowls with.

I think the reasons for the Curt Schilling hate are rather different (and arguably far more justifiable).

Curt Schilling stole 40 million dollars from the State of Rhode Island.

If you want to cheer him, be my guest.

Am I the only one who thinks these 1 day contracts after retirement are stupid?
No you are not alone. If Gronk didn’t come back and sign a one day contract I believe the majority of Pats fans think of him as a Patriot.

Wow, so you dropped that sort of line on Tommy AND me this weekend. Your horse is high.

That was after the 2017 season where both Gronk and Brady was considering calling it a day after the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles. Gronk wasn't giving the Pats much indication he was returning, so BB had a trade in place with Patricia. When Gronk found out, he pulled the Jake Plummer card. Lucky for us, Patricia did us a solid and rescinded the trade.

2019 is when Gronk did it again and Jared Cook decided to go elsewhere because he didn't know Gronk's status.

It's unfortunate you aren't adult enough to see fans expressing disappointment in how someone's 'tenure' here ended isn't the same as expressing 'anger' or 'animosity.' Tarring an entire fan base for the actions of a minority is something I'll never understand, It says far more about you than it does about the fan base, and what it says isn't good. I have no doubt SBB has room for you in the sandbox though, so at least there's that.

BTW I have nothing but appreciation for what Gronk and Belichick did for this team. I also respect what Schilling did on the mound for the Sox but between his underhanded business dealings and the way he **** on Tim Wakefield's dying wishes I hold him in utter contempt as a human being. He earned the ire of Sox fans for disrespecting Wakefield like that, you should feel shame for not sharing it
