Chiasson is younger , better, more familiar with their defense, and most likely less expensive. I'm not sure why a guy with 3 sacks thinks he deserves a raise from 18 million.

This is what I figured from what I looked up earlier on spotrac. These Edge players are way too inconsistent as we're seeing many players making a lot of money, but sandwiching really mediocre seasons with one to two good seasons in between. Chaisson is a better value making a lot less.

I'm sick of getting all the old DE's on their last leg - Judon, Landry, and rumors of Crosby even. I know everyone will freak out at that. But, Crosby is 29 and had some sort of knee issue. I'm not saying he won't be productive, but paying top dollar for a guy who's probably played his best seasons already is not great for a position we need some stability and power.
If we sign Chaisson, that's fine. And maybe Ponder will take a big leap, or Swinson. But, seems like we need a big splash in the draft at EDGE.

Greenard has issues tackling. Like, double digit missed tackles each year with a missed tackle rate over 25% in each of the last 3 seasons.

Also, I find it ironic that this guy was on pace to put up numbers similar to Chaisson, and he wants MORE than 19M/yr, but People are telling me that Chaisson is only worth 11.. *&SMMH*

He is very good against the run, but does miss tackles. He is good at diagnosing, moreso than Chaisson imo. I would rather they resign Chaisson though

Maybe worth a look? Only 3 sacks in 12 games last year, but had 12+ sacks in each of the previous two seasons. Likely comes much cheaper in a trade compared to a Crosby.

We should understand that Greenard isn't re-signing because $18m isn't enough. So, you guy would pay more and give up a draft choice, or just pay more.

Phillips only plays on the left side of the D as does as Chaisson. They rush against the right tackle. Adding both with big money makes no sense. They cannot be on the field together. Its either one or the other for the same position.

I messed that up. Its Landry and Phillips that play the same position over the RT. Landry is under contract for 2 more years.

At this stage, I don’t think Landry can or should be viewed as the starter heading into the season. Age, injuries and declining production are all in play. I”d like to have him around for the veteran leadership, but we need two edges.

Hearing he wants 20 mil a year and we would need to trade to get him. Pass. There will be a number of reasonable edge players on the free agent market if we want to throw 20 mil at the position

There are other alternatives besides starter and being cut.

But it does not make sense to invest in another $20 million in the same spot. Spend it on the other side.
