Good pod with Mayo: insight in communication breakdowns, LB play, BB green dot methods, vs Saints..

I hope that's the case

Communication problems can be fixed, a lack of talent can't be... not without some serious trading, anyways

Quick Slants is my favorite Patriots podcast. Worth a listen all the time. Mayo's insight is pretty good and he'll deliver a few good anecdotes about BB or other players.

One thing I didn't quite understand (was distracted when listening to this part) was how Mayo said a guy like Branch would ignore a defensive call from a younger player if he didn't like it. Doesn't make sense to me because 1) why have a younger guy making defensive calls if they're wrong; and 2) why suggest that Branch is out there doing his own thing - the only true kiss of death for a defender on a Belichick team?

In theory Branch should entrust the player who the coaching staff has bestowed the calls to.

Giving more context, I believe they were talking about what would happen if they had a Jordan Richards telling Branch which gap to occupy.

Mayo was more broadly saying that it was unlikely Hightower will be able to communicate to the entire field from his spot at DE the way he could from ILB - therefore it falls to Van Noy and other defenders (hopefully Harris, though the game plan against KC obviously de-emphasized his current skill set).

If Harris doesn't see a bunch of snaps Sunday, I don't understand why he's here.
