GOOD NEWS: Thornton had a "great week of practice"

As bad as Thornton has been, Polk looks like an even bigger bust. Slow with stone hands. Might be even worse than N'Keal?

Is it actually incredulous at this point how anemic and asinine the Patriots WR scouts have been at drafting the Wide Receiver position. Words cannot express the lack of confidence I have in the Patriots front office drafting a highly successful WR in the first 3 rounds. I pray they prove me wrong for Maye.

Message to Patriots front office: Stop trying to be the smartest guy in the room and just take the best WR on the board who comes from a prestigious school.

It's actually scandalous how, over the years, some really productive college WRs inexplicably fell in the draft, were gift wrapped to the patriots...and the patriot's front office astoundingly passed up on them or drafted some lower rated WR from an obscure program.

Very well could be. Although my biggest heartbreak was Keenan Allen falling into the 2nd round in the 2013 Draft. Let me remind you, Allen was a super stud in college. We chose Aaron Dobson instead. Later in round 4, to add insult to injury, we drafted Josh Boyce LOL.

Yeah - the second round is where the real “jewels” are, with the exception of a few that come to mind like perhaps, Thornton, Polk, Chad Jackson, and Bethel Johnson. But its very rare to miss on a good receiver when picking one in this round!

Seems like even if he can't catch anything he at least stretches the field a bit to give room underneath for others to work.
For example TT would have pulled the Titans safety Hooker to the sideline and away from the middle of the field. Not a lot of value, but more than Polk or Bourne.

Are the Pats still holding out hope someone actually wants to trade for Thornton?

Imagine Maye to McConkey. How the **** Wolf never made that happen is tragic.

I agree. So what is the coaching thought process that made him inactive Sunday? I don't get it, unless they're just trying to get everyone reps before the great culling.
Same as the past few weeks... they want to trade him because he's entering the final year of his rookie deal. There's no trade offer because he's a complete unknown... the Patriots haven't been able to pass deep, or at all the last three years.

You don't play players you want to trade because you don't want them to get hurt... but they need a WR because Polk sucks so bad, Baker isn't ready, and Bourne won't be the same player until next year.

Osborn they pissed off because they jerked him around, he's the starter for the first month along with Thornton... then he's not playing even though Polk has done nothing to change the dynamic... the Pats offense was just terrible because they couldn't block and Jacoby is average... Osborn was a scapegoat along with Thornton.

Now they have an exciting new QB, Osborn and Thornton should be playing with Douglas... that should be the three WR sets with Boutte. But Wolf and Jonathan decide who plays and Mayo collaborates.

Thornton has pure blazing speed and length, that always has to be accounted for and respected.
I would tend to agree to this view and we probably start playing Thornton, Osborne more now and design more slot and inside routes for Douglas rather than on outside or stretching deep.

I would say give an uninterrupted 4 game stretch for both and we can see how everyone does. Last 4 would be for Baker and Polk. If they suck next year they could get cut . No point hoping for them to become anything good .

Look at the Tampa game. Mayfield was just getting out the ball in 2.1 seconds and I believe it's just route running with no name receivers . Tampa OC is a stud.

Rams coaching tree is killing it . Our special teams coach is from rams .

The ex panthers OC Brown was also a mcvay protege for 3 years and is the bears passing coordinator. Someone to keep in mind .

This thread reminds me of ‘Harry had a good interview’

Tyquan Thornton is the new Adam Seward

Better yet…Thornton is the new Jake Bequette. He’s going to hang around another 5 years because he has dirty pictures of the head coach

Yep that explains his inactivity even our Coaches are scared of his speed and length.

It's truly mindblowing. I used to think it was BB's curse. Since Terry Glenn, the Pats were drafted-WR killers.
But, Polk came in looking like the one to break it. Good camp, signs in preseason, even good first few games with a TD.
But, he has firmly sunk into the Patriot WR curse.
Since his heel drop vs. Miami, he entered the abyss.

Would have been nice to have Allen, but at the end of the day, we got to 4 SBs, won 3 SBs, and all those playoff games and division titles. We did okay.
