Let's hope the Redskins' bad karma has washed off.Wide receiver David Patten owns three Super Rings, all won with the New England Patriots, and is now vying for a roster spot with the New Orleans Saints.
If early practices are any indication, he'll win one. Patten was one of the most impressive performers at any position in Friday and Saturday drills.
"He's going to contribute and compete," Saints coach Sean Payton said of Patten, who turned 33 last week and will be in his 11th NFL season.
Patten is by far the most experienced of an extremely young group of wide receivers. He is the only one of the 11 in camp who has more than three years of pro football experience.
Patten has played in only 14 games over the past two seasons with the Washington Redskins, but he has shown little rust thus far. Asked after Saturday afternoon's practice if he thought he still has what it takes to help the Saints, he replied, "Without a doubt."
