Globe hit job on BB

Comment e-mail sent to the Globe "reporter".

You've got to be kidding! You're joking? Couldn't you find something else to write to justify your exorbitant pay. It gets better. Then your editor is stupid enough to allow this crap to go to print? What’s even stupider is that I subscribe to your "news" paper.

Comparing this to the cheap shot Harrison took last week when the Titans were laughing? Fisher (he’s the Titans coach if you did not know that) is applauding. Then calling Harrison a cheap shot artist? I think we have found the cheap shot artist and he thinks he "wrtites" for the Boston Globe. Bet you didn't go to journalism school did you? Aren't you even embarrassed? Wait a minute.....How silly of me! This gives you some reaction so at least a few people will see your name sometime in your career.....Cool!!!

Why don’t you go down to the photographer and convince him to sue BB? He’s got no issue with the incident but you do. My Lord, if you were standing in the way of an emotional moment between the two coaches involved, and had he moved you, BB would be in shackles in the "hoosegow" right now!

No, BB is not going to be in the running for the Tonite show when Leno retires. He would also be a problem as to what table I would sit him at for my daughters’ wedding reception and he probably thinks "The Donald" and Rosey farce is amusing, but give us a break on this "reporting". Isn’t there a "Tom and Katie" happening you can attend and "report"?

Tell you what buddy. I have had some things published. I will do you job for a week without pay and show you what people want to read in sports. Sir, I challenge you to a duel where you can see how it's done.

Bet you are a typical Globe "Liberal"? Bet you and Teddy are buddies? You need to be writing in the political pages in the Globe that is the biggest joke in the whole paper and even funnier than the old daily funny, "Robot Man".

Watch a game or two and watch coaches meet afterwards. Because of the large number of people on the field, they don't always go in a straight line to one another.

Now, if you can think a little, imagine the face of the clock. Mangini is standing at 6:00, that doesn't mean that BB only can come from 12:00. He may slide in from 9:00 or from 3:00. Now, imagine you are a cameraman standing at 1:00 and looking through a lens at 6:00, can you tell if BB is coming from behind you on the left or right. Unless you have morphed into an alien from Mars or have eyes in the back of your head, you probably can't.

Now if you want to resort to name calling, we can, but you'll lose.

Okay, if we want to turn this into an algebraic equation I'm sure there are even more complicated ways to think about this than yours. Bottom line, if you are facing Mangini, and he continues to walk forward and doesn't veer to his right or left, and you choose to continue walking backwards because he hasn't veered right or left to meet the coach you KNOW he is walking to meet, you KNOW the man he is walking towards will be coming up RIGHT BEHIND YOU. Sorry, I still think it makes you look DUMB to think any other way.
There, I win.

No, you are assuming that Magini can see BB and which direction he is coming from, which with all the people surrounding, he couldn't. You are also assuming that the cameraman is focusing on Mangini's eyes and which direction he is going. Once again, if the cameraman is at 12:00 and Mangini is at 6:00, you, nor Mangini, nor the cameraman knows if BB will come around the left or right or straight through (which apparently is BB's choice) the cameraman.

Okay if EM couldn't even see which direction BB was coming from, where on earth is the big wide opening BB should have been able to get through? You are proving my point, it was mayhem out on that field, to say the photographer wouldn't know that he was in danger of being in the way of the post-game greeting doesn't make a bit of sense, since he had positioned himself, backwards, right in front of Mangini, exactly where he wanted to be and where he shouldn't have been.

Exactly, there is a circle of "MANY" photographers, and BB had to slide in somewhere. There was no big opening between any of the photographers and BB could have chosen to slide between any of many. And of many photographers, all of them were facing Manigini. Not one could have known which direction BB was coming from, he could have come into that circle anywhere from 5:00 all the way around to 7:00 with 12:00 being the most direct. That doesn't justify pushing or shoving someones arm which was holding a camera.

Go get your camera and look only through the lens and have people walk up behind you and guess where they are coming from. You can't do it.

No, he didn't have to slide in anywhere, most of the other photographers GOT OUT OF THE FREAKIN way so they could get their shot of the handshake, the guy WALKING BACKWARDS right in FRONT of EM did NOT MOVE, not even when BB tried to move him with his left hand. I really cannot explain it anymore clearly, and it is hurting my head to try. You are determined to see an innocent photographer blindly assaulted, I am trying to say he put himself in a bad position and again, to say BB shouldn't have shoved him is fine (although I don't agree), but I cannot understand how you could believe the guy had no idea he should be getting out of the way cause BB would be coming up right behind him.

FWIW, my response:
Why is it that when photographers line up on the doorstep of a grieving widow, shove their cameras in the face of anyone dragged for any reason to a courtroom, fly news helicopters over the houses of stroke victims, those poor souls are just doing their job?

But if a public figure should rebel, just for an instant, at the end of an emotionally tense game and do so in front of those members of the local media who delight in public villification (much like the author of this article), suddenly THAT's news.

And just as suddenly Belichick is the one who lacks class.

I don't pity anyone who buys ink by the barrel.

So if you're walking down the street and a blind person is walking towards you, you have no obligation to politely move around that person and they deserve a shove because they were in your way or line.

A photographer looking through a lens is "BLIND" to everything behind them. BB could see everything in front of him and chose not to politely move around but instead, after one hand didn't get the result he wanted, he chose to push a little harder and shove the hand and camera to the face. BTW, the NFL issues passes just so that photographer can be at the right spot at the right moment.

Call your car insurance agent/ claim agent and they will tell you that 99.9% of the time, the person who last could have avoided the collision is the one at fault. BB could have avoided it.

BB could have avoided it.

So could the cameraman, when BB put his left hand on him and tried to move him aside, he could have done just that. Or he could have decided not to remain 1 foot in front of EM so he could get his perfect shot.
I have to say thanks though, you did make me laugh by trying to equate a photographer caught up in a media feeding frenzy to a blind person. Nice.

1 foot, nice exaggeration, more like 3-4 feet. 1 foot is way too close for a picture.

Here's Belichick's problem, and it has nothing to do with the fact that he dresses like he's from Appalachia and has the personality of a wet mop: He thinks he's above everybody else. He treats every Sunday with more secrecy than the US generals handle our strategy in Iraq. He believes three Super Bowl championships give him immunity against moronity. They don't.

There's nothing quite like criticizing someone else's behavior, while showing off your own prejudices at the same time.

Well said. How quickly he forgets that Corey Lidle's father learned of his own son's death while watching ESPN, because nobody could keep their mouths shut long enough to at least notify this man's family before making it "breaking news" and naming names on national TV.
Our very own NFL lately-shootings,deaths,arrests,drugs,roids,spousal abuse, coaches being fired, coaches allegedly lying, gossip about players' private lives (did anyone catch PTI's discussion about who's social life you'd rather have,Matt Leinert's or Tom Brady's) nevermind the small detail known as the postseason- an interesting one at that.
But no,this loser earns HIS paycheck ranting about a sports photographer who's camera got a little "push" from Bill Belichick, (who happened to be en route to giving them the pic/video/breakdown/SNL segment of a lifetime) and how he was dressed at the time.
:enranged:

Hmm.. I'm looking through my camera at Mangini walking towards me, KNOWING that he is going to be walking towards Belichick for the handshake, but I am too friggin ignorant to figure out that BB is probably behind me?

Man, you live in a fantasy world.

Dude, your excuses for the photographer are pathetic and totally unrealistic. And the whole BLIND PERSON example is just ludicrous.

1st off, the Photographer had BOTH EYES OPEN. 2ndly, EM was walking towards him. Why would EM be walking towards him? Certainly not to POSE. So, logic would say that he his walk towards BB. And the whole BS of the reporter NOT knowing which way BB is coming from? What, is Mangini NOT going to walk towards BB for the handshake? DAMN, would you just listen to what you spewing? Its just utterly ridiculous.

And a zoom lens.

Oh boo hoo hoo. He got in the way and then got pushed out of the way. What the Hell happened to "being a MAN"? Sometimes you get pushed and sometimes you push, now all I ever hear wherever I go is whinny, girly, pansy assed so called men complaining about any little thing that happens to them like they were old women. Grow up, life ain't fair and it sure ain't easy, every once and a while you're going to get cut, bumped, and bruised, you'll heal and you'll live, get over it, and BE A MAN for gods sake.

I've read posts saying Belichick was out of line for pushing that photographer aside, NO, out of line would have been if he threw that bozo to the ground and punched his lights out. I've come to realize that all those who think that the slightest bump constitutes assault and battery are those scrawny little geeks back in high school who used to flinch and piss their pants every time you'd snap your hand up and run your fingers in your hair. Remember that.

The whole notion that the photographer did not know Belichick was behind him is just dumb. Everyone knows the coaches are going to walk towards eachother. I do not believe that either coach took a route that was not a straight line towards the other coach. Keeping track of where the 2 coaches are in order to get a picture of them is pretty much his job

Reporters on the field should be treated like quarterbacks: unless they slide down, they are akin to running backs and can be drilled.
