Not that it matters anymore but Bill should have picked Howell over Zappe...

Plus one with @Vindicate
Just get a ****in room already. Do you really enjoy kickin' sand at each other so much that the rest of us are going to start blocking you in thread after thread until we finally just give up and make it permanent? Cause I gotta tell ya for me the annoyance factor of this BS is starting to outweigh reading your other stuff. I doubt it's just Vindicate and I that are at our limit with it. I raised 5 boys so it's not like I have no patience but c'mon man.

Although maybe if it was 5 girls I'd understand...
Nah, who am I kidding? I'd have done a high dive off the Tobin at low tide after the third one
It's not that I want to kick sand I'm just not built to sit by and listen to someone who hates Bill so much that he will actually complain about picking Zappe over Howell. It's next level trolling and it grinds my gears every time.

Your quite the distinguished gentleman

Nailed it, that's me to the core

He is a good man with athletic talent and will carve out a career for himself with another team
See;
Geno Smith
Joe Flacco
Baker Mayfield
Andy Dalton
Jacoby Brissett

For 2025 would be a great backup option

Texted my brother and was like sign him. Very similar body and athletic style to Maye, shouldn't have to change up the offense if he came in for a game or two. But too many QB needy teams. Someone will try to reacclimate him as you said.

Jones is a bust like his brother in Jacksonville.

Flacco, Mayfield and Dalton had success with their first teams. Jacoby carved out a career in the NFL? News to me.

Why did they choose Devito over Lock and Jones as starter for rest of season?
Obvious tank.
NFL needs a lottery system
Jones and Lock have injury guarantees in their contract.
They play and get hurt, NYG could be on the hook for their full 2025 contract.

That said - yes, it's still a tank.
They just have plausible deniability.
"We just want to see what the new guy can do with an opportunity, without having to look over his shoulder."

While a happy coincidence, I don't think that draft position was a real consideration when making this move. This is a pragmatic approach when you have a lost season that is closely correlated with determining that you need to move on from your QB who has a hefty injury guarantee. Similar to Russell Wilson, the team knew that it was time to minimize the losses and move on from Daniel Jones. I just hope that this means that Daboll is next on the chopping block. Somehow it feels the opposite and he will be kept to develop the new guy.

It's still too low. Raise minimum wage to 2 million per person on 53 and 1 million for those on practice squad. The QB salaries are insane . You can't have 4 people on team of 53 eat 75% of cap space.

Instead of artificially raising the wages of those who might not deserve it, why not just do the simpler - and logical - thing and place a hard cap on QB salaries by tying them to a fixed % of payroll?

I like that . 10% of salary cap. Single player taking 20% is insane. That way teams if they have gone grown talent can retain up to 6-7 people . But minimum salary should be between .75 - 1 % of salary cap. I think players association will all agree and owners will also agree.

And guaranteed money cannot be more than 30% of salary .

The only issue I see with this is that if QBs know their salaries are capped they will try to join the most stacked teams.

That only works for vets and undrafted rookies. Drafted rookies will be on the pay scale to start. Maybe give teams re-signing their own QB an exemption somehow. Perhaps something like half of the signing bonus is excluded from salary cap computations if they resign their own QB. Heck that might be a good idea for all players, make it more likely to develop team stability and give the fans more homegrown talent. But it would make things more stable and less exciting so the league would probably not go for it.

Too many mediocre QBs making too much money and wasting their teams years because of water cap space.. Daniel Jones, Watson, dak etc..

Either cap ceiling or have guarantees removed when salary goes above 30 million. So if performance is tanking in a season, you can cut as let go of guarantees. Too much leeway for QBs. Killing league competitiveness
