Report: New York Giants Could Offer Julius Peppers $100 Million

Julius Peppers may have found a team willing to meet his huge asking price.

According to media reports, the Giants could offer the defensive end a $100 million deal. On WFAN's Boomer and Carton show Wednesday morning, Craig Carton confirmed that he had inside information that the Giants have prepared an offer similar to Albert Haynesworth's seven-year, $100 million agreement with the Washington Redskins.

Peppers will leave the Carolina Panthers as a free agent after declining their offer of about $14 million a year. The 30-year-old has expressed a willingness to play in a 3-4 defense and would be open to moving from defensive end to outside linebacker. If the Giants signed Peppers, they could move to a 3-4 scheme.

Six to eight teams are rumored to have interest in signing the defensive end, including the Redskins, Patriots and Bears.

Peppers has 81 career sacks in eight seasons. With his strong 2009 season in which he posted 10 1/2 sacks, the five-time Pro Bowler may get the big contract he wants.

Must...get...Boldin...before all hope is lost.

Re: Peppers $100 Million

JEEEESUS Christ! Basically, they would be shelling out $200 million between two players. That's absolute suicide.

If it is like the Haynesworth deal, it is really a 4 Yr/$48M deal. The total value really isn't relevant other than the wow factor. It is a lot of money, though.

I wonder what the Giants would do with the DE they have. They already have Kiwanuka and Umenyiora at DE, and that is assuming that Tuck plays inside exclusively (he plays some DE as well as DT).

LOL what is this writer smoking? Giants are going to pay Peppers $100M so they can switch from their 4-3 because Peppers is open to moving to OLB in the 3-4?

Seriously, if Peppers wants a $100M deal, why is his name even being mentioned in the same sentence with the Patriots? Really?

Does anyone even have a clue what the pats are going to offer him? I've just heard "less from the other teams".

.

noooooo I still have hope he wants to join us, as a underpaid but appreciated Elephant backer in our 3-4.

So which team in recent memory went to the Super Bowl thanks to all the $$$ they spent.

They're definitely not offering him $100M.

People like i said lower your expectations, you will be disapointed... And if the Giants give him 100 mill.. say god bless, that is alot for a 30 year old, player who may not be playing next year or nor will anybody..

Obviously, lol. So here's the breakdown.

Giants: 14mil year
Bears: 13-14mil year
Redskins: God only knows
Pats: 10mil a year? Anything less Peppers will just laugh.

expectation is already low.....the pats currently have one good LB

That's exactly right. 4 years at $12 mil/year. I would not pay that much for Peppers though. I would go to about 4/40 max. And Vince would be looking at about 4/36.

Re: Peppers $100 Million

$100M that is one hell of a deal! I really could care a less if he comes here and for that price I would rather add better depth to multiple positions.

He's not going to turn down 20M more dollars elsewhere just for the privilege to play for us. Holy Benjamins, Batman!

Hahahahaha Oh well.............
