The .5 sack DROY, so I've been told.

47/57 for 452 and still lost by 19 to Purdy who went off for all of 200. The Bidwill Effect has a name for a reason
I can't keep all these syndromes, effects, fallacies and curses straight in my little pea-brain. We probably should have a pinned thread for those who are but a meatloaf sandwich away from alzheimer's.

Couple of things came to mind over the NFL weekend.

1. There is some bloody awful QB play in the league. Don't care what anyone says, Darnold is a JAG. Maybe an elite JAG, but a JG none the less. 10 ints in 4 games. Crikey, if Drake did that the "Zappeeee" chants would be starting again amongst the pink hats.

2. Coming out of point 1, Mac Jones could definitely start in this league. No, he isn't elite and doesn't have a great arm but with decent weapons and good coaching he can do a solid job as a placeholder. If I was the Vikings, I'd already be onto Mac's agent.

Rather than use this to debate an opinion over Darnold I'm going to parlay this into a more relevant point:

JAG or not Darnold is most definitely getting pulled up by the play of JSN.

Now if you compare it to our situation one could very easily make the case that Maye is standing very much on his own and that obviously bodes well for us.

Maybe Diggs is pulling him up more than we realize but my opinion is that JSN is having a bigger impact in that department given their stages in their careers.

Obviously every QB needs help/weapons so I'm grasping a little here. But between the 2 and however minute the difference is Maye would seem to be more in control of his ascension than Darnold.

Same at Mini where Sam had Justin Jefferson i.e. he has had these elite receivers to bail him out.

to your first point: we’ve already seen the golden age of QB play. I feel lucky to have experienced it

Like I was trying to get at the more pertinent question for us: is Maye standing more on his own 2 feet?

When compared to Sea with JSN I think the answer is obviously yes just because JSN is the best right now.

And more to the point does this mean Maye's play is more real/likely to replicate with different targets? (Again I'd say yes and I think the way he distributes is more evidence too but now I'm leading the witnesses)

I wouldn't call the last 8 weeks " The Golden Age of Quarterback Play" but Maye has been really really good. Better than all who came before him? Absolutely. But it's still just a half a season.

I think he was talking about Brady.

I think he was talking about Brady.
yeah. I was talking about QBs from around the mid 2000s till the late 2010s or so

the big 4 of
Brady
Manning
Rodgers
Brees

then you had
Roethlisberger
Rivers
Ryan
Wilson
Stafford
late career Favre with 2 great seasons in 2007 and 2009
late career Warner with 2 great seasons in 2008 and 2009

even Carson Palmer was MVP worthy in 2005 and 2015

This is a pretty good list. I think this group was handed the torch from :

Dan Marino
John Elway
Jim Kelley
Joe Montana

There's some young guys that might be worthy of inclusion now, time will tell.
