I put this in another thread (how many of these same threads are we going to have?) I don't think the NFL is a completely un-manipulated league, and the cynic in me thinks the NFL will never let the Patriots with Belichick and Brady win another Superbowl until they can remove themselves from the tarnish of the Video Witch Hunt.

As a huge business with a massive audience, it just wouldn't be very popular for the NFL if the Patriots won again, with the wide perception that they were cheaters who got away with it, where the evidence was quickly destroyed that would have incriminated them further.

Bob Kraft needs to FIGHT BACK against the un-truths.

I remember in 2007 supposedly the Patriots, Belichick, and Kraft were hamstrung from giving their side of the story because they were told/ordered to keep their mouths shut by Goodell. I also heard rationales that they were hoping that over time the whole thing would blow over.


It gets even more upsetting when one realizes that it's STILL legal to videotape sideline hand signals from a dozen spots in the stadium, just not from the opposing sideline. Goodell is such a tool.

The thing that people don't seem to get is that this whole thing is really about nothing. Everyone wants BB to fess up and air the dirty laundry about "Spygate". BB probably has nothing to say because taping the defensive signals was just such a minor thing in his coaching duties. He and his coaching staff probably looked at 100 pieices of film every week. The defensive signals was just an insignificant piece of information amongst 100 pther pieces of information, 99% of which is supplied by the NFL. To think that people think that these tapes are the be all and end all of the Patriots victories is just ludicrous. Belichick hasn't said anything about because there is nothing to say.

I am 100% certain that Goodell hushed things up and had the story stopped because it was about inches away from coming out to the public that the practice of taping signals was widespread throughout the entire league. That would have been tremendously embarrassing for the NFL so the Pats were forced to be the sacrificial lamb and take all the blame.

I've heard the Goddell forced BB, Brady, and Kraft to hush up line, but that one actually doesn't make much sense to me.

As a businessman, Kraft cares deeply about his bottom line, and negative publicity like this has to hurt the Patriots image and thus his bottom line, if nothing else just from merchandise sales around the country. So, he has every reason to fight Goddell on this.

And what more was Goddell going to do to the Patriots if they talked and explained everything?? Fine them $750,000? Take away a 1st round draft pick? He already did those things.

As a Pats fan I wish those tapes had been made public. Then at least this would be a dead issue one way or the other by now.

In 2007 the Pats were rolling across opponents and they attitude was we will show them.
