Game day uniform question? - wedding rings

While watching a replay of the giants OT kick vs SF; I noticed the holder (weatherford? ) was wearing his wedding ring.

I dont recall ever noticing a nfl player wearing a ring before. Seen plenty of necklaces and earrings etc. (or at least not wearing one that wasnt taped up and covered.)

I know that rings are bad in any kind of industrial setting, but is there any rule against wearing rings on the football field?

those who are coaches or former players - do you teach/were you taught to take them off?

Most players take them off or put tape on it. I've seen Mr. Harvard from the Bills wearing it.

I noticed that too, it really stood out. Wearing any kind of ring on the football field is potentially dangerous, I would think. It could get caught on something and tear your finger off with it, or get smashed and ruin a finger that way. Not wearing it would just seem to be common sense.

Well a punter really and in this instance acting as a holder.

But as far as I know the punter is allowed to tackle too. Vinatieiri, Gronkowski, Mesko have all made tackles before.

I was just wondering if any official rules or team rules (training standards) might exist.
