Because then you may not get to blow your wad at all. I'd rather do it prematurely than not at all . . .

I see your point, but couldn't we watch the whole movie first and if there isn't a better scene, rewind and watch the scene you liked the best?

I don't really see the rush to get the Cassel deal done within 3 days of free agency. Our free agents are not first tier guys that other teams are throwing cash at, and I don't see a free agent out there that Bill has got to have. Why couldn't they wait a until the weekend was done? Why not send the word to the teams in need of QBs that KC was close to getting a deal done to gauge their interest? This move screams of panic. Like they were afraid that this was their only offer and had to buy it.

If you get a chance read Peter Kings MMQB.. it makes a lot of sense about the economics of this move.. have to believe that there is something else in the works here.. there is no rush to judgement..

It still looks to me that, yes, this was their only offer. The best one, anyway. TB and Denver and be saying they made better offers and if there really was a much better deal out there I expect Pioli to take it. If TB offered a #1 and #3 then I think Pioli would have traded Cassel and laughed all the way to the draft choice bank.

Furious, sure. But are you fast?

This thread is priceless. :singing:

Ahh...my daily morning coffee thread. Time to switch to decaf...

And what do posts from last August have to do with anything? Talk about a fallacious argument. One can hold an opinion of the current worth of a player that contradicts an earlier stance.

I agree with you man. A lot of opinions from football people like Floyd Reese and Mike Lombardi as well as respected journalists like Adam Schefter, setting much higher expectations for Cassels value should do a lot to change your mind. Especially after the guy went out and put up a great year. I would say anyone who held the same low opinion of Cassel now that they had back in August must have spent the last six months where you spent the weekend.

Welcome back. Rant all you want. It's compeltely understandable IMO.

I think the position is, this was a good deal NOW versus gambling on uncertainty. Sure, BB could hold on to MC, wait it out for something better that might happen. Who knows, maybe we get something better. That apparently was uncertain though. In the meantime we have no wiggle room with player signings while we are waiting and hoping for something better. I'll use an analogy that was my own experience. My brother and my friend both were basking in the glow of their low subprime mortgage payments. I went with a 5 1/2 30 year fixed. It was the safe play for me. I paid more than them for a few years (I even questioned the wisdom of going with the fixed for a while). But the premise of the gamble was simple: take the safe play and be sure of what the payment was, or gamble with a lower payment that could ultimately significantly and negatively change. BB just opted for the loan with the 5 1/2 fixed for 30 years.

We know what we got for MC and it is clearly a net positive. If you are this upset about what it could have been, I am surprised you made in off the ledge after the Pats/Giants superbowl.

I think a more apt analogy would be the kid that goes off to college, gets laid for the first time and the next day proposes because he is afraid that he doesn't want to loose her. The next weekend he gets hit on by other girls and realizes he screwed up.

OK we only have 2 complaints about this thread so I'll not close it.I expected 8 0r 10.

Now I will have to check how the OP voted in the poll. I did not include a furious option. We do have an enraged smiley but not a furious one.

EDIT: The OP has not voted but as an American he has a right to be furious and not vote.

I found a picture of the OP...

Past results have shown me that BB knows what he is doing. Blind faith in him usually works out in the long run. Should I believe in BB or a crew of GM wannabes?

I went out of town, to a location devoid of TV, internet access, even mobile service, this past weekend, and just returned to see Cassel has been traded for a second round pick? Are you $@!#ing kidding me? Tell me this is a joke or something. And Pioli was the guy boning the Pats like this? I'm sure this has been discussed ad nauseum already here, but wow, this seems like Belichick doing a close friend a favor or something. I'm sick to my stomach right now.

Go to your room!!!!!!!
