Former Patriot OL Donald Thomas placed on IR by Colts

Colts placed LG Donald Thomas on injured reserve with a torn quad, ending his season.

The move comes just two games into Thomas' four-year, $14 million contract. Thomas had been playing well before going down. The Colts must now go with third-round rookie Hugh Thornton at left guard. Going on 28, Thomas should slide back into his starting job next summer.

Injury bug striking the Colts:

Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports that Colts coach Chuck Pagano informed the media on Wednesday that Dwayne Allen needs to have season-ending surgery on his hip. Allen hurt his hip in the season opener against the Raiders and didn’t play in last Sunday’s loss to the Dolphins.
